PARAQUITA BAY, Tortola, VI- Distance runners Reuben J. A. Stoby and Rosmond Johnson transferred their winning ways from the 5k and 10k distances to the 2-mile run when the Highland Spring College Classic got underway at the H. Lavity Stoutt Community College in Paraquita Bay on Saturday September 19, 2015.

Stoby ran unchallenged en route to winning in a personal best 11:23.25 with Vaughn Van Oudtshourn taking second in 12:03.36 and Julius Farley third in 12:15.12.

Rosmond Johnson (14:15.91) held off Tallulah Kinkead (14:41.25) in the women’s race. Juliane Potgieter was third overall for women in 15:17.12.

According to a press release from the H. Lavity Stoutt Community College, “close to 200 participants from teachers, principals and students to lawyers, doctors, dentists, accountants, other professionals including the Rotary Clubs came out for the 1 and 2 mile run from the Colleges’ Paraquita Bay campus.”

It further said, collectively, participants from as young as 3 years to 65+ years embraced the occasion with determined hearts to the finish.

“For some, it was simply a nice morning run/walk in the company of colleagues, friends or family while others trained hard all year, and were in it to win it. As of press time, the results of the day were not finalised to be reported.”

The next race of the series will be on Virgin Gorda next Saturday September 26, 2015 with the following race on Tortola on Saturday October 3, 2015.
