ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - The St Kitts & Nevis Patriots took on the Cool and Smooth All Stars at the Sir Vivian Richards Cricket Ground on Monday July 31, 2017 in a thrilling T20 match dubbed the calypso cricket match.

The Patriots batted first and made one hundred and fifty three runs for six wickets from their 20 overs. Devon Thomas was the top scorer for the Patriots. He made 45 runs while Justin Athanaze took three wickets for 33 runs for the All Stars.

However, when the All Stars took the pitch, they were all out for 130 runs. Their top scorer was Orlando Peters who made 37 runs. Samuel Badree was the top performer with the ball for the Patriots taking three wickets for twelve runs from his four overs.

The All Stars coach and former West Indies fast bowler, Kenneth “Flipper” Benjamin, had predicted that his players would match, pound for pound, international stars such as Chris Gayle, Samuel Badree and Carlos Brathwaite.

According to Benjamin, who coached the PIC Liberta Blackhawks to a third consecutive Cool & Smooth T20 Explosion title this year, the local players are just as able and skilled as their international counterparts.

The match was a one-off warm up game for the Patriots as they prepare for the upcoming Caribbean Premier League (CPL) which kicks off on Friday, August 4, 2017 in St Lucia.

The first match will feature the St Lucia Stars and the Trinbago Knight Riders and will be held at the Darren Sammy National Cricket Stadium.
