BAUGHERS BAY, Tortola, VI, Social Commentator, radio talk show host, and Pastor Claude O. Skelton-Cline has continued to urge Virgin Islanders to prepare for the worst-case outcome of ongoing global tensions, saying many of our children already live in food-insecure homes.

“Do you know that so many of our children who go to school every day are living in food-insecure households? I’m not telling you about what I think; I’m not telling you about what I’ve heard, but what I know," he said on his show on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, titled ‘So You’re Still Not Ready’.

These children, he said, attend school every day and are not properly nourished. Mr Skelton-Cline said it is not because the parent or parents do not want to provide for them, but that “people simply don’t have the money to meet the month”.

He said he is doing what he can through his business. “We, like other people, do our very best, every day, to ensure these young people, these young children, have something to eat; they best we can.”

Be careful God doesn’t knock you off high horses

Pastor Skelton-Cline warned that these situations are no longer far-fetched.

“I know that some of us are sitting up on our high horse and we think that can’t come near us, that can’t touch us, that’s not my child, that’s not my grandchild. You be careful that God don’t knock you down off your high horses.”

He said what is happening globally will touch everybody, and when that day comes, money may be unable to soften the blow.

“I don’t care how much money you think you have because…even sometimes people with money don’t have the means to purchase stuff because there’s going to be no supplier for you to purchase [from].”

Mr Skelton-Cline urged others again to “brace for impact”.
