Social Security Board celebrates its 45th anniversary

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- The Virgin Islands Social Security Board (SSB) is celebrating its 45th anniversary this year and has unveiled an anniversary logo.

The SBB in a social media post on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, said it is celebrating 45 years of dedicated service to the people of the Virgin Islands (VI). 

“As we unveil our 45th anniversary logo, we reflect on a legacy built on trust, resilience, and community. Our anniversary theme, ‘The Way Forward’,  represents a renewed commitment to innovation, connection, and wellness,” the post added. 

The theme also represents a renewed commitment to innovation, connection, and wellness. 

“It is a tribute to the visionaries who laid our foundation and a promise to continue evolving to meet the needs of future generations.”

45 years as a pillar of strength in VI

The Virgin Islands Social Security Board was established on July 2, 1980, following the enactment of Act No. 17 of 1979 by the Legislative Council.

“For 45 years, the Virgin Islands Social Security Board has stood as a pillar of strength, reliability, and care in our community. As we mark this milestone, we celebrate the countless lives touched, the promises kept, and the unwavering dedication to social protection and financial security.”

It added that the anniversary is a reflection of the past, a tribute to the people the Social Security Board Serves and the partnerships built. 

“It’s a moment to honour the legacy of those who laid the foundation and to recognise the continued efforts of those who carry the mission forward today…We remain committed to the people of the Virgin Islands.”

    Trust? More like theft. Joes hill project ring a bell? People paying contributions for years and go through hell to get a little assistance. Not even assistance we should call it, but what we are entitled to we should be able to get when we are sick. Evil at its best

      Perhaos, your employer never remitted any monies into the fund. Thetefore, you aren't entitled to what isn't there. If thats what has happened, i suggest you take them to Court. Make an example out of them. Too many thiefing employers around here. I always remind people to check with Social Securitu, NHI and Inland Revenue to ensure their salary deductions are paid and up to date.
