CHARLOTTE AMALIE, St Thomas, USVI— A man was arrested at Cyril E. King Airport in St Thomas, US Virgin Islands (USVI) with over 10 pounds of marijuana on Thursday, July 14, 2022, the [US] VI Police Department (VIPD) has announced.

VIPD Director of Communications Glen Dratte announced that  Christopher TK Smith, aged 25, was taken into custody on Thursday at 11:47 am by Criminal Investigation Bureau detectives after an investigation revealed that he was found to be in possession of the controlled substance. 

According to the police report, while Smith was picking up his luggage from a Miami, Florida flight, US Customs and Border Protection conducted a search of his luggage after a CBP K-9 detected the marijuana inside Smith's luggage.   

Smith was unable to post bail of $7,500 after being charged with possession to distribute marijuana.

He was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending his advisement hearing.
