SEA COWS BAY, Tortola, VI- Artefacts believed to date back to the 18th Century are some of the items on display at a mini exhibition at the Small Old Sea Cows Bay Methodist Chapel.

The Museum Day Mini Exhibition, being held under the theme ‘ A Snapshot of Our Past’, is being held by the Sea Cows Bay Heritage Group and is open to the public, free of charge, from 1:00 PM until 5:30 PM.

The exhibition, which started on Monday and ends today, Friday, May 22, 2026, particularly targeted schools to give students a glimpse of the past and develop an appreciation for their current situation.

‘Life in years gone by’

“The inspiration behind the exhibition is that we are trying to get the younger folks to see a little of what life was like in years gone by, Varrisse V. Hodge, Vice President of the Sea Cows Bay Heritage Group, told our News Centre.

“We want to show them what we went through, and though it may seem hard times we hadn’t better to go by, but they were good ordinary times to us.”

He added that the exhibition was held as part of International Museum Day, celebrated on Monday, May 18, 2026.

Most of the artefacts belong to people in the community who were generous enough to lend them to the exhibition.

According to Mr Hodge, the desire of the Sea Cows Bay Heritage Group is to have a “permanent home” to display the artefacts on a daily basis.

Would love to see this but not taking my car on that messed up road. Why can't gov repair that road one side at at time. Both sides are torn up with debris and mud for a long distance. Got a flat going through there day before yesterday.
