CANE GARDEN BAY, Tortola, VI- The two-day BVI Music Beach Festival wrapped up in Cane Garden Bay with electrifying performances by Jamaican artistes I-Octane and Kalado on Saturday, June 28, 2025.

The focus on Friday, June 27, 2025, was on genres such as rock and roll, Latin, and soca, with performances by local bands and DJs from across the region, including tributes to Caribbean nations such as St Vincent and Guyana.

On Saturday, however, it was a mixture of Soca and conscious Reggae to dancehall vibes.

I-Octane show!

Among the acts were MJ Blues, Sistah Joyce, and I-Octane, alongside Kalado.

The two Jamaican artists lit up the festival with energetic performances that saw the crowd get involved. Some of them even dared to get on stage to dance with the performers, while some males tried to prove they were strong enough to lift heavy women.

Another crowd pleaser was Mr Killa, who appeared to have a large crowd following.

Other local artists included a Type of Toad and 3Gs.

The show on the beach drew approximately 1000 patrons each night, a significant reduction from previous music festivals.

Many residents criticised what they perceived as "weak planning and promotion", as many claimed they were not even aware of the show until the opening day.

Efforts to get a comment from one of the organisers, Ronford Cline, were unsuccessful up to the time of publication.

The BVI Music Beach Festival received sponsorship from the Government of the Virgin Islands; however, it is unclear to what value.

Premier and Minister of Finance Dr the Hon Natalio D. Wheatley (R7) told our News Centre he would be disclosing that information “at a press conference soon”.

This is what happens with greed no one wants to participate anymore. Everything gone to the dogs for adults. Adults needs an over 40 club and then I will go. My oldest is almost 30 and I don't want to hang out with his friends. Everything is expensive so I rather play the same music home. All people do when they go out is watch other people and stay on their phone. What a dumb lineup. Bring big artist for that kind of money you all want to get it. I rather it be free or 10.00 and that's how everyone I know say the same thing and none of us went. Going out isn't fun anymore
    • @Worthlessness. Agreed. Greed (29/06/2025, 15:47) Like (28) Dislike (3) Reply
Look at the difference in the Crowd make at SK music fest when Kartel is performing and when Anita Baker is performing. Anita Baker Crowd was Classy & mature and they enjoyed her...She brought a band and Kartel a computer. No way cartel worth 1.5 Mil U.S $$. Anita Baker got just one Million $$ U.S. BVI don't have that kind of money and for music fest to come back strong, We need High end quality artists..Not CG Bay..CG Bay had its time...That spot where Kartel show was held should be festival space, music and August Festival..Move Music Festival to October holiday..Can't compete with SK music fest..

No comparison to SK Music fest. Sk has sponsors unlike the Bvi. You all talk about bringing high end artists.

SK music fest be off the chain. It is worth the plane and hotel money. The promoters is excellent at what they do.

You’re missing the big picture. Keeping it going is to not loose momentum. The music fest is beneficial to the entire BVI. Too much tunnel vision thinking and bringing personal feelings into a dynamic environment is shortsighted. BVI people want everything for nothing. Consistency is key with St. Kitts, dedicated sponsors and people who understands the assignment.

You worried bout Kartel, the SK people was praising his performance. They love him. They paid their money it was the biggest music fest sk had (did u see that headline) the man charge what he want is either you going pay it or not.

You all think it's just about bringing big artists. Take into the consideration to set up. Paying various vendors for services. In this day and age everyone wants pay before you get anything. Bringing big artists is not a problem . Are you all willing to pay 100.00 for a ticket. Let's be realistic.

What happen to our local bands? Why are they not improving? Why they only show up during festival looking for big festival money.. I like the idea of putting all local bands interested in performing for festivql in the village on a stage One month before festival free as a fun raiser, 4t mins a band, then from that the committee will no who is ready and their value..Leave two spots per night open for local bands and use this fund raiswer to place them according to their readiness. ..

WSD have the worse customer service ever working in government, and no manners at all sometimes they refused to see customers it happens to me I was so damn piss, the worse thing is I live off island, so my time was limited on Tortola until now I still didn't get through. This was just ill conceived. Poor timing. Seems like most people can’t go out unless they get paid the same weekend, small names lineup, USVI having their own events coming up, wasn’t a holiday weekend and SK had their festival. I know they said they will move the date next year but this was just another waste of money. It’s like we don’t feel good unless we are wasting money.

I am very disappointed in what I am seeing. Vulgarity is not needed for a MUSIC FEST! It's embarrassing to watch when you think you will only go for the music vibe. I am done and cannot take my children to any decent thing now. How I wish the ones who run these shows would make sure there are limitations on vulgarity. These are supposed to be family-oriented, like in the old days. We have lost our morals and souls to the DEVIL!

The event was a very good one and all who came enjoyed themselves. The committee is building from scratch and getting the momentum going again. The very first music festival barely had 200 people if that! Things take time to build and grow. Next year will be even better. Keep up the good work Ron and team. This was successful based on the goal. I had a great time both days and even met new people Abe reconnected with old friends.

The size of the crowd is not the measuring stick. What did Ron set out to accomplish? He wanted to rebrand the event and bike the energy for 2026. He wanted to let people see what the venue could be like. He did that.

I beg to differ about small crowds. The crowds came out according to who they wanted to hear and then left, so the crowds were large, just not all there at the same time.
Nothing is ever positive! Always a criticism.

Our hard earned tax dollars being spent on private events. This event was fenced off blocking off most of CGB beach. Benefiting Paradise and the cronies who put it on. Why are we allowing this? Why do we allow our government to spend our money on private music events? We need to get up, stand up for our rights! We need roads, water, and so many other important things that will improve and benefit all of us living & visiting the BVI. Why are we lining the pockets of these event producers with government funding? This is nothing like the CGB music fest of the past. NOTHING! Waste of tax payers money!

Bring people who sings conscious music and charge less. How can a big family go out to these events that's so expensive? Government is the biggest crooks ever charging for village here just about every night, but love to go to St. Thomas own because it's free... Evil people. This is why the people should boycott everything even other events until the people start price control at a reasonable price.
