ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – The Virgin Islands Department of Disaster Management is reporting that a small craft advisory is in effect for the Virgin Islands for today, December 4, 2021.

The advisory means that wind speeds of 21 – 33 knots and or wind waves and or wind swells of 7 feet or greater are occurring or imminent.

For the local weather, Shallow low-level patches embedded within a moderate to fresh trade wind flow will move across the area at times, which could lead to a moderate chance for activity later tonight into tomorrow.

The DDM as such is forecasting Weather today as Partly cloudy to cloudy skies initially with a 60 percent or moderate chance of quick passing morning showers, becoming mostly sunny thereafter.

The Weather tonight is partly cloudy to cloudy skies with a 60 percent or moderate chance of brief passing showers mainly after midnight.

Winds will run east-northeast at 15 to 30 km/h or 9 to 18 mph, reaching as high as 43 km/h or 26 mph mainly over open waters and in elevated areas and seas 1.5 to 2.1 metres or 5 to 7 feet.
