BAUGHERS BAY, Tortola, VI- Host of the Honestly Speaking radio show Mr Claude O. Skelton-Cline has said the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) handling of vehicular accidents in this modern era is archaic.

Speaking on his show on ZBVI 780 AM and live-streamed on the Honestly Speaking Facebook page on Tuesday, January 25, 2022, Mr Skelton-Cline said it was evident in the lone vehicular accident involving a pickup truck at Pasea Estate on January 24, 2022.

He said the RVIPF needs to do better.

“It is highly inefficient the way I see officers disposing of the simplest vehicular accidents in this country. It is amazing to me in this 21st century,” he said.

Mr Skelton-Cline bemoaned that the truck “sat there until this morning! Had the traffic all backed up down to the roundabout in town.”

'We here like bush people'- Skelton-Cline

He added: “It just seems like to me there has to be a more efficient way of disposing of these vehicular accidents other than having officers in the road! They (RVIPF) are blocking the traffic not seem to be cognizant…it ain't like we have multiple roads on which to traverse. And they are all through the place, little fender bender, we still pulling out tape measures, we still putting markers in the road. This is archaic, back in the woods, 17-century stuff! People of the Virgin Islands aren’t we sick of mediocrity?”

The Honestly Speaking host said the people of the territory are tolerating “this level of inefficiency in a world of technology that is so advanced and yet we are here like bush people!”

He said while persons may argue that the methods are necessary for insurance purposes, “you gotta put legislation, you gotta put policies in place that changes all of this madness! It is unacceptable and we gotta find better ways of doing this,” the clergyman and commentator said.

People of the BVIs are indeed sick of the mediocrity, especially that which seems to emanate anytime CSK flaps his lips. The suggestion of legislation to address this issue, in the land of no consequences, is a joke. We already have traffic laws and a vehicle code that needs to be complied with and enforced.

Everything can be done quickly using technology, even taking measurements,..The main objective is to get the matter dealt with as quickly as possible as to have the shortest of delay in the traffic flow...That should be the investigators focus...Too much diddle diddle, and unnecessary chatter most times..

So why he can't go show them how to do their job, since he knows how to so well.

Let's be honest here. Most (not all) in the BVI police force are backward, incompetent and archaic in their approach to many things (if not everything). They are lying, over aggressive, numb skulls.

Yet you will call them when you have a problem, dispute or accident. What does that make you?

I will have to agree with you here. They need to update their methods of handling minor traffic accidents. Mark the vehicles, take pictures and get the vehicles off the road to clear traffic as fast as possible then take statements and measurements after. Also super cop needs to learn how to pull over ppl. He can't be stopping alongside the driver blocking the 2 lanes on the highway. It's either he pull behind or Infront of them. He is a nuisance on the road at times

Thank you Claude ... for years I've been saying this, its like the police like when action taking place, and they like to be seen doing their jobs !!! Nuff time, when u do pass the accident, they just standing around and talking to the occupants !!! For christ sakes, take pictures, spray the markets and get the wrecker to the scene if the vehicle is not drivable..... you can interview the occupants after the scene is cleared of the vehicles .... they does make everything so complicated !!!!

These people who making these comments never left the island, never will, will always live in a tunnel…this man has something to say and says it with knowledge, insight and enunciate well, and all everyone can do is miss the point. I feel empathy for our people.
