ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Virgin Islands (VI) Talk show host and social commentator, Claude O. Skelton-Cline says he remains trustful that the VI will get its General Elections within the constitutionally mandated 2023 timeline.

Speaking as a guest on the September 30, 2022, edition of The Narrative, a regional talk show hosted by Calistra Farrier, he said while all things remain possible, should the VI not get its election it would cause ripples not only locally, but regionally and internationally.

Elections still due in 2023

“Constitutionally, we have an election that has to be called by May of next year. According to our constitution, the first sitting of the House since the election in 2019 was on March 12th, and 60 days from March 12. We are mandated constitutionally to have an election,” Skelton-Cline told Mrs Farrier.

Skelton-Cline pointed to unsubstituted rumors that the VI would not be allowed to have an election, saying he does not see the territory not having it.

“For us not to have an election will mean the suspension of our Constitution and that in and of itself, I do believe, will raise the consciousness of the people of this country to a level that we have not seen since the March of 1948,” he said.

VI must be given the opportunity to elect leadership - Skelton-Cline

“But I trust that it does not come to that. I trust that elections will be had by May of next year and the people, will be provided an opportunity to elect a leadership that they can trust and believe that can carry us forward to where we ought to be,” he added.

He said the VI as a people must therefore ready themselves for elections as a people come with a decisive reason as to what it is the VI needs as a country.

“We're not a Banana Republic, we are a country of laws and though along that journey, things happen... I do not believe, nor do I see any reason or evidence why there will not be an election at the constitutionally mandated time.”

Give England a chance to bail us out of this mess. Our own being failing us for too long. Looking around I'm not seeing a good serious choice as leader.. I know people who usually get their pockets full from politicians along with those who think now is their tine e looking forward to elections...It's all personal interest .

VI listen up, the political atmosphere in the so called mother land is in chaos as inflation tops 10%, a fast approaching winter without energy to heat homes, and whole industry in the energy sector going bankrupt!

Seems like the new prime minister lady Tacher is complete with incompetence for actions needed.

It is so important now for the policies that drives the VI be in the best interest of the people and not the UK.

Not to mention to impact of the European war and the world changed coming. Politics in the VI and the question of election is woefully complicated by the governor and his lack of clarity.

The governor has single handedly taking on the domestic affairs of the VI without a single vote by the people!

Election 2023 might just be a battle in if it self, VI must stand up for it’s right and fight for all freedom afforded them by the creator!

Ask the damn governor these questions since he is the one with the answers. We should not have been in this position to begin with. Y'all only have strength for destroying your own people but when it comes to others you are a bunch of cowards. WHAT YOU ARE GETTING IS WHAT YOU DESERVE FOR ABUSING ONE WHO YOU THOUGHT WAS DEFENSELESS
NOT KNOWING HE IS PROTECTED BY VERY HIGH SPIRITUAL POWERS SO CONTINUE TO TEST AND BRING JUDGEMENT ON YOURSELVES.

Go and sit down one time CSC. No one is interested in what you have to say. Background check. You are a clergyman telling false things. You only came here to escape the states. Shame on you and all you do!
