ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Radio talk show host, Claude O. Skelton-Cline has reiterated calls for a national conversation on leadership and the future of the Virgin Islands (VI) as a territory under the United Kingdom (UK).

Speaking on the October 5, 2021, edition of his radio talk show ‘Honestly Speaking’ on ZBVI 780 am, the local clergyman said he remains concerned about the path the VI is currently taking.

Talks needed on the future of VI - Skelton-Cline

“I am deeply concerned, very much afraid of the current path and trajectory that we are on, and so again I'm saying to us, I am calling for a national conversation across ethnic lines.”

He continued, “Anybody and everybody who deems by time or by birth that this is their home, this is their permanent residence you have a right to the table and you have a right to say,” he said.

Skelton-Cline set out an informal policy that to participate in the national conversation persons must go beyond the current affairs.

“Failure for us to come together my brothers and sisters will be a serious miscarriage of our God intended future and that about children and grandchildren,” he said.

He said leaders must see before and see more than everyone else has seen and leadership must also see further than everyone else.

Leadership must be able to mobilise - Skelton-Cline

“Leadership must mobilise and martial persons within this sphere of influence to a common cause and goal. It cannot be around the current circumstances because circumstances change on a regular basis. It must be around a cause,” he said.

This cause, he said, must be bigger than them and their current situations and must be able to outlive current generations.

“Our role simply would be to carry the baton for our leg of the journey… set aside the personalities, set aside whatever political misgivings you have, because it is important to stop living in your feelings,” he further advised.

Skelton-Cline called for the people of the territory to ‘reason together’ to formulate the best way forward in both official and unofficial capacities.

There is a sea mammal named a wale. There are many species of wales of many sizeso and various colours.
Some Wales for some unknown reason beach themselves, and without quick and right help they died.
There is always a leader of each group. Question: 1. Do the other wales compelled to follow the leader on a suicide mission? Personally I don't think that they have to, but they by large do.
Question: 2. Because of the overwhelming amount of factual information that you and I now know in reference to the Coi probing of mismanagement of our finances by political leaders and others that support them, should we take (a) advice from, (3) agree to form a protest movement against the UK rule in cohesion with the likes of CSC, and others of similar mindset?
I am not sure what you may or may not do, but I know for sure that I will never be s part of such prankster's show, that peg up a house built on corruptive greed, and diverse mental instabilit cause by misguided lust of material gains irrespectful of righteous principles.
    My people, chose wisdom.

Wales is a small country, known as a principality, part of the UK, and located on the island of Great Britain.
WHALES are species of sea mammal.

A lot of us have noticed it for a few days. He is on the verge of some type of panic attack or paranoid break down. Like you stated, maybe this is a plan to plead insanity. But for real, he is under a tremendous amount of stress.

CORRECT, they are in the BVI only because of the American dollar. Cut off the American dollar and this place will be a ghost town.

We should be so lucky. We c would then have an opportunity to rebuild with quality. The drain as a result of populating the place with the Caribbean poor poorly misery and criminality is the worse mistake.

CSC states that he is "deeply concerned, very much afraid of the current path and trajectory that we are on", and yet this is the path that he and his friends have taken us along?

There is only one set of individuals calling for this independence. Is it any surprise that these are the same set of individuals who refuse to be held accountable for their reckless financial mismanagement? IS it not these individuals who stand to gain the most financially from this move, CSC especially? If there is only one thing we have learned from this COI its that these jokers cannot be trusted with our tax dollars.

I support a Britain take over for 18 months straighten out all that have been made bad and crooked..then call an election and hand it back to us...The handful that benefits will make a lot of noise against the COI but they dont feel the pain the oppressed are feeling...

The UK is trying to give equal status to all it citizens, political capabilities to all and voting rights to all. How can you even imagine that after 18 months of course correction they will give the helm back to us. That's wishful and naive thinking. If the UK takes over the VI our VI is done. We will have to try to survive in their VI.

As a BVISLANDER and a US passport holder, I will be one of the ones that will move back to the US if the BVI goes independent. AND FYI, explain to me how we the US passport holders love to run our mouths or are you simply jealous because we are at a better advantage.

So we must go independent so you can keep your lips firmly attached to the government's nipple? Let's have a conversation about the future of Detroit.

I thought this was the $16,000-a-month multimillion dollar initiatives man. Wha happen? Contract end so ideas end? How much he paying these people who he calling for to give him ideas about BVI future. To come to the table. He might end up hiding under the table when these people start to speak. I beg, be gone! This proves that they really take the BVI people for fools!

We can let the Detroit thing go already. Cline is from the BVI. Doesn't matter where else he's lived in his life. He is just as much a BVIslander as any other. However, He cannot be the one to suggest this now with the exposure of his choice to live on the public purse. Also the BVI is a far ways off from being ready for independence. IMO at least another generation.
There are smaller steps we must take in order to progress as a country and as a people. And we need to be more independent without actually being independent until we get some greater form of unity, fairness, and standards of excellence in everything we do. Until better can be done let worse continue.
We need continued socio-economic growth and we need political stability. We do not need people living off the public purse to tell us we need to be independent. Cline has not contributed any more to the society than I have personally or than many of us have. So attempts to justify his contracts & positions are ridiculous. I do it for free so can he. I will always do the best I can for the BVI whether I am popular for it or not, or paid for it or not.
Cline has to find himself back in the church and leave the politics alone. Can't serve 2 masters at the same time. Our people need more knowledge about civics, culture, history, global norms, customer service, racial pride without prejudice, and many other things. A leader should focus on these things and not fighting a colonial power that has been a colonial power. We need BVI loyal citizens who understand themselves in a global environment. We can't be independent if all we can see is Anegada to Jost Van Dyke. The world is smaller than it used to be. So our minds must be broader than it used to be also.

It's such a shame that when we had the opportunity to bring our people into the light our leadership preferred to keep them in the dark and heap abuse on them. All the blame cannot be placed on our political leadership because our religious leaders are equally guilty. Even today they continue to deceive the people and still want to claim that they are fighting against the colonialists. History has shown that those who support both sides of a conflict do so for personal gain. Our biggest problem here is our failure to think. Anyway the wind blows is cool with me. It can't work like that there are consequences ( every little action there's a reaction) for everything. We were warned but the prophets were scorned that is why we are now in deep shit. The problem is if you pull em out they are going to turn around and do the same foolishness or worse. Sorry but right now its all about tough love.

The Virgin Islands need to develop a culture where the corrupt people (Local or foreign), fear the incorruptible and not the other eat around. I'LL JUST REST THIS HERE.
