BAUGHERS BAY, Tortola, VI— The practice by some people of driving with their garbage on top of their cars or throwing garbage from moving vehicles has been met with disdain by social and political commentator Claude O. Skelton-Cline.

Many times, the garbage falls off the vehicles and is left scattered on the roadway. Additionally, persons could be seen throwing wrappers, plastic and paper bags, tin cans and even bottles from their cars.

“How is it that you and I feel comfortable throwing cans and other debris out of our windows as we drive? This is our home," Skelton-Cline exclaimed on the January 28, 2025, edition of Honestly Speaking on ZBVI 780 AM.

'You even forget the garbage on top of your vehicle'

"Some of you, your brain don't function properly. You even forget the garbage on top of your vehicle. The garbage falls in the street, spills all over the place. You saw it fall, know it fell—you don’t stop to pick it up!" the commentator continued.

Whether the government will take additional steps to tighten regulations remains to be seen, but one thing is certain, Mr Skelton-Cline does not appear ready to let the issue fade from public discourse, arguing, "This is our home. If we’re not even going to follow our own rules and laws, then who will; We are one disaster away from absolute poverty and tragedy. One disaster. Man-made or natural—just one."

I completely agree with him on this. Ayo brain don't function properly? Putting the garbage on top the care and forgetting it? This happened only last week in sea cows Bay Area and it was horrible. The people kept driving without a care. We need to do better

But how the hell someone can put garbage on top of their vehicles and forget about it? Sorry but, I would call that person a moo moo or barely functioning retards. Seems like most people here brains don’t function properly for real or they are suffering from a lack of basic common sense.

I do agree with you but i hope you at least were the one that stopped and picked it up.. we often can see and talk but not do because it " not our job" when truly it is the job of everyone living in a area to keep it clean.

Just frowns? It’s downright inconsiderate and anti social not to dispose of garbage properly, but people been doing it for years with no consequence, of course. Must have been a slow day for gas bag cline.

One of my pet peeves is seeing someone throwing their garbage out of a moving vehicle. Some of you is real nasty in this place and have no real/true pride about yourselves. I also agree with Skelton Cline on this one.

I also frown at the fact that the government really pay this man hundreds of thousands to do nothing. Nobody can’t tell you what the bvi got out of hiring him as any consultant.

Was on a plane from Miami a couple of years ago. Sat next to a local BVI Islander and was discussing life in on the island in general while he tossed is cookie wrapper on the floor of the plane. You have a big cultural problem. Blame the government all you want. Look within.
