ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Word reaching our news centre is that a male who was socialising in the area close to the Mill Mall in Road Town was involved in a gun incident.

The incident occurred last night, Friday, May 29, 2026, after 10:00 PM. 

According to an eyewitness, “I only heard pop, pop, pop as I was on my way to an upstairs bar." It is alleged that a male who got into an altercation went to his vehicle for his gun, believed to be an automatic rifle. He then, according to reports, fired off a few shots in the air; however, no one was injured. It is believed the swift action of an off-duty police officer helped in the identification of the suspect.

The suspect is now in police custody awaiting charges. While our news centre has the suspect's name, we are unable to publish it pending action taken by the police. Up to publication time, police have not issued any statement on the matter.

      I agree! A shot fired in the air can come back down and strike someone in the head or body. Lock this fool up ASAP with no bail! He could have killed innocent bystanders.

    A while back, I shared a post about a young man in VG who received police bail, whereas my cousin was denied bail and sent to Balsum. Ghut, even though he never discharged a weapon. I will wait to see whether this individual will be granted bail or taken to court. Let's observe the hypocrisy and double standards unfold before us. RVIPF, it's time for you to step up and reveal your true colors.

      If I ever open a business here on the Island, I will only cater to a certain class of people. When I say a certain class of people, you don’t have to be rich or elite. Just a people that have class and know how to conduct themselves in public. The wine place can be a very nice spot but they cater to the wrong crowd of people.
