Speaking on the Talking Points radio programme on ZBVI 780 AM on Monday, September 21, 2026, Flax-Charles stated, “But I can’t give you a declaration quite yet; however, I am in the running.”

She added, “I’m hoping to have one of the At-Large seats as a candidate with the NDP.”

The former legislator explained that, under the NDP’s system, prospective candidates are nominated and then voted on by delegates at convention, with only the top vote-getters securing spots on the ballot. She also disclosed that the incumbent NDP At-Large Representative Hon Ronnie W. Skelton has been given an automatic slot.

“So that is my intention, to be successful in that area,” she said.

Flax-Charles previously served as an At-Large legislator with the Virgin Islands Party (VIP), before defecting to the then Progressive Virgin Islands Movement (PVIM), and has been active in community meetings and public advocacy on issues such as access to The Baths on Virgin Gorda and pay for emergency medical technicians.

She stated that in the last general election she “moved on” after having run unsuccessfully with the Progressive Virgin Islands Movement (PVIM), signalling a shift in party affiliation since then.  

Recent NDP activities have already featured her alongside other party figures, including chairman Hon Marlon A. Penn (R8) and district representatives, though the party has not yet publicly announced its full slate of candidates.

Party leader Hon Penn has indicated the NDP has selected its full slate internally, but names are to be announced “in due time.”
