ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) today July 22, 2021, announced that a second male, Shaun Massicott, has been charged in connection with a January 2021 operation that resulted in the seizure of over 200 kilos of cocaine at Hodges Creek, Tortola.

Massicott, 28, of East End, Tortola, was charged for possession of a controlled drug with intent to supply and being concerned with the supply of a controlled drug.

In January 2021, Devon Bedford, 32, a resident of Harrigan's Estate, was charged with unlawful possession and possession with intent to supply.

Accused granted bail

According to the RVIPF, Massicott appeared before the Magistrate’s Court on Friday, July 16, 2021, and was offered bail.

Police said that during an operation on January 19, 2021, in the Brandywine area, officers of the RVIPF intercepted a rental vehicle.

“A search of that vehicle uncovered a large quantity of cocaine. A subsequent search of a second vehicle uncovered a smaller quantity of cocaine. A boat was seized as part of that operation,” the RVIPF said.

Police in January 2021 said five bales of cocaine were recovered in the vehicle and a vessel connected to the drug seizure.

Crown Counsel Kristain Johnson said the cocaine had an estimated street value of $25,970,000.

Police probably took it to a secrete location outside the territory to dispose of it with no oversight. For all we know they can place it on a navy ship and it’s gone.

These are the type of prisoners who should be housed in the UK prison. Balsum Ghut is simply a resort and an office for them to continue business.
