Sharie B. Y de Castro gets all clear for Miss Universe 2013
The delegate, Ms Sharie B.Y. de Castro had previously expressed some doubts regarding her participation during an exclusive interview with Virgin Islands News Online. The pageant queen had revealed details of unfair and unprofessional treatment allegedly meted out by those responsible for the final decision on her preparation in the pageant.
Sharie, 22, won the prestigious Miss BVI title in August 2012 before going on to represent the Virgin Islands in the Miss Caribbean World and Miss Carival pageants.
However, the VI beauty confirmed her participation in an exclusive interview with Virgin Islands News Online last evening October 13, 2013. She further explained that all energies are being directed to ensure that she is as ready as possible to perform at her best.
The Miss Universe Pageant will be held on November 9, 2013 at the Crocus City Hall in Moscow, Russia and will require Ms de Castro to be away from the territory for a period of three weeks, beginning Monday October 21, 2013.
Ms de Castro explained that she is thankful for the support of the VI community so far and welcomes continued best wishes, thoughts and prayers. “I am asking everyone in the BVI to lift me up in prayer as I go out there with no personal interests but with my mind, heart and soul committed to making my country proud. Time is of the essence so with focus and preparation, along with prayers and support from my people I know great things can be achieved.”
Miss de Castro told this news site that after a meeting with the Chairperson of the Miss BVI Committee and Chairman of the VI Festival & Fairs Committee, along with follow-up meetings with her “amazing” support system, a decision was made to move forward with preparations. She expressed gratitude to her family, friends and chaperone for being constant models of strength, courage, resilience and love and admitted that they are the driving force behind her success.
The VI Community can follow Miss de Castro’s journey to the Miss Universe Crown on facebook.com/MissUniverseBritishVirginIslands and support her by voting for her as the Official People’s Choice on a date and website to be disclosed soon.
The beautiful Ms de Castro said that she is going with the mindset to represent her home country to the very best of her ability, as this is an opportunity to promote the VI people and culture to the world.
