PURCELL ESTATE, Tortola, VI - The Six District, under the Leadership of Honourable Alvera Maduro-Caines (R6), had started a 'Youth Summer Beatification Project' for children between the ages of 12 and 17.

It has about 12 children, according to Hon Maduro-Caines, speaking to our newsroom.

It was yesterday August 20, 2018, that many of the children laboured and decorated the area with plants close to the Sunrise Bakery in Purcell Estate on Tortola.

There were about 33 plants all nicely planted by the youths.

Plants stolen

By this morning, Tuesday August 21, 2018, however, many of the children were left heartbroken and sad, to discover that all 33 plants had been stolen by bandits.

Hon Maduro-Caines, told our news room, she was “very disappointed and surprised and that it is a new low for the Territory."

It means , she will now have to find money to replace the plants.

The Sixth District Representative vented on her Facebook page saying, “I am angry in my spirit…people are so evil.”

Police are said to be investigating the incident and are making checks to see if anything useful was picked up on the nearby CCTV cameras in the area—owned by store owners.

The second term legislator is also expected to place a bench in the area that had been decorated with the plants.

What if a recent graduant go for an interview with their hair looking like that? Do you really think that the will get the job? NO. Please can you try and lead by example.

I would like to thank you for your sincere concern about what a terrible act it was for the youths hard work to be disrespected that way and to highlight hoevil it was for people to steal (which is a crime) plants that were being used to help beautify an area in the district. I know you are really concerned about the district. BUT REALLY YOU’RE NOT RIGHT... YOU ARE JUST IGNORANT AND FOOLISH. I AM AS ASHAMED OF YOU AS I AM FOR THE PEOPLE EHO STOLE THOSE PLANTS!!! HOW ABOUT YOU TRY ACTING LIKE YOU HAVE SOME CLASS.

This is so devilish. Omar hodge did well in beatifying that place. But lack of maintenace allows it to run down back to the ghetto. These culprits should be put away how can someone do something like that.
All district rep should embark on a beautification initiative and give tax incentive ffor homeowners who taken care of roadside meaing a good curb appeal

The issue is about the plants that were stolen, someone mentioned about too much dam island people in the place. We don’t know who stole them but that person is judging which is so dumb. I think it is very disgusting and shameful to see that people can stoop so low. On the part of Hon Maduro-Caines hair style, I personally think she needs to take out those disgusting looking hair. Her husband and children really let her leave the house with that hairstyle. Please remove them my dear.

You are just like your name (old). This article is on an unfortunate situation where our youths were involved and you here talking about the rep hair. Did her hair steal the plants? If you don't like to see it, then close your eyes. I hope she can keep it in forever so all you haters who don't like it could get a heart attack. Never hear more stupidness. Soo many more important things to talk and worry about and idiots here talking about a rep hair. Empty minds is what you have. Can never offer anything constructive

Why the F**k you ignorant people in Tortola is making a big deal about the color wigs the woman is wearing. Soooo F**king what!!!. I work at a AD agency and some of the women wear colored wigs to work. A lot of you need to travel outside of Tortola to see how the real world function. The things that you people worry and talk about, in the real world, no one cares or have the time.
