Sexual offence cases dominate 2014 first High court list

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Barbados national Justice Madame Nicole Byer and jurors have their hands full with cases of sexual offences that have dominated the list of matters to be tried in the High Court of the Virgin Islands for the first assizes for 2014.

The 2014 High Court assizes got underway yesterday morning February 4, 2014 and according to the list secured by this news site four (4) of the nine (9) case are of sexual offences nature.

The list says that Sylon Forbes Aka Sly is to be tried for rape as committed on March 9, 2013; Walton Cameron for indecent assault, Nathaniel Malone accused of sexual intercourse on a girl under the age of 16 years and Raymond Harrison aka Rayboy for rape.

The other matters that are listed to come up in this February assizes are Elrys Todman who is to be tried for burglary will kick start the trials tomorrow February 6, 2014, Jessroy McKelly for robbery and murder, Jeremey Springette for a cause of grievous bodily harm and Sherman Williams and Jevon Demming for a 2012 attempted murder matter.

In addition to this list Virgin Islands News Online has been informed that persons who were recently committed by the Magistrate in the Magistrate’s Court are required to report to the High Court on March 31, 2014.
