CARROT BAY, Tortola, VI- The usually quiet community of Carrot Bay was the scene of gunplay and a high-speed chase between a scooter and a rental vehicle yesterday afternoon, October 26, 2020.

According to reports reaching our newsroom, the incident took place around 5:30pm on the stretch of road in the vicinity of the fisherman’s dock.

Persons told our newsroom that close to 20 shots were fired in the direction of the rental vehicle that was being chased by a man on a motor scooter.

Our newsroom was also informed that one of the bullets hit a window of a nearby house.

Some 15 rounds were reportedly recovered by investigators.

It is unclear if anyone was injured; however, the chase continued in the direction of Capoons Bay. At least two persons were reportedly in the rental vehicle.

Police seeking identity of shooter

The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) has confirmed the incident and, in a press release today, October 27, 2020, said officers are seeking the identity of a male scooter rider, about 5'5 or shorter, “who was seen aimlessly discharging several rounds from a firearm while riding through the Carrot Bay community between 5:30pm and 6:00pm last night.”

Anyone with information is asked to call the RVIPF Intelligence Hotline number 368-9339.

“No injuries have been reported thus far in this incident,” police stated.

    That's the kind of people bvi want in society.They dont want police to arrest criminals who resist the police.
    I am happy vino would get the news quickly and publish it for all to see and read.

    These lowlife criminals have no regard for the lives of others....now suppose that one of the bullet reached as far as in the home of someone and killed them or a child...then WHAT???? And we know that they don't care what age you are just ask Trinity...oh wait, you CAN'T!!!! SMH

    They are renting vehicles to commit crimes. My eyes are opened about renting a vehicle. Just say, a regular law abiding citizen rent the same vehicle and is driving along and whoever the rental was chasing start shooting up the rental hitting innocent people inside.

    This is dumb you gettingchase by a SCOOTER all u have to do is stop and BAM scooter down. And dont come at me bout oh that goin kill him well oh well you shooting at someone. If that man stopped the car and let him hit him the car that would be selfe defense.
