VALLEY, Virgin Gorda, VI- Usually it is his brother Ray D. Victor stealing the spotlight and carting off the lion’s share of individual awards; however, Rowan R. Victor emerged out of the shadow to capture most of the individual awards at the 2022 VG Summer Jam, which concluded on Saturday, November 26, 2022, at A. Jeffrey Caines Arena in Virgin Gorda.

Victor’s team Set It Off captured the championship trophy, beating Up 2 Da Time 78-73 in the 5th and final game of the championship series.

The game was a keenly contested affair that kept fans on the edge of their seats, as the scores were even at 39 at half-time and Set It Off held a slim lead, 60-57, at the end of the third quarter.

Stephano K. Paul MVP of A Division

Stephano K. Paul was the main scorer for Set It Off with 18 points and also received the award for Most Points of the Championship.

Ray D. Victor netted 17 points, 9 rebounds and 3 blocks, MVP of the Championship Devon D. Ottley had 14 points and Travis A. Issac 10.

For Up 2 Da Time, Jevone Deming had a game-high 20 points; Stephon S. Caul 15, 10 rebounds, and 2 blocks; Asim Z. C. Beazer 12 and Kimron A. Telemaque 8.

Rowan R. Victor’s incredible feat

A surprised Rowan R. Victor was later awarded the trophy for Most Blocks.

He also received awards for Most Steals and Most Assists.

What was most incredible about Victor was that earlier in the day he had competed in his first BVI Half Marathon, covering the 13.1 miles in just over 1 hour and 40 minutes for a fourth-place finish. He had also played for Set It Off in a bruising game against Up 2 Da Time the night before.

Other MVPs

Meanwhile, the other MVPs in the 2022 VG Summer Jam were Lekoy Lennard for B Division and Jaden Abrams of C Division.
