VALLEY, Virgin Gorda, VI – The Virgin Gorda community will honour Mrs Seriene Maduro at the 2026 Cultural Food Fair for her decades of service, entrepreneurial excellence, and unwavering dedication to preserving and uplifting the island's culture.

Mrs Seriene Maduro is a dedicated entrepreneur, baker, and pillar of the community whose contributions have left a lasting impact on Virgin Gorda.

She relocated to the Virgin Islands in 1979 and made Virgin Gorda her home in the early 1980s, devoting her life to both business and community service. Before becoming a successful business owner, Mrs Maduro worked at RiteWay and Buck’s, where she developed a strong work ethic and a passion for service.

Maduro turned her love for baking into a business

According to a Facebook statement, “In 1990, she turned her love for baking into a business by founding L&S Accessories, which later evolved into the well-known LSL Bake Shop. What began as a small hobby has grown into one of the Territory’s most beloved bakeries and restaurants, serving the Virgin Gorda community for decades.”

Beyond her entrepreneurial success, Mrs Maduro has shown an unwavering commitment to community development. She has been an active member of the Valley Sound Lions Club for many years, contributing to numerous outreach initiatives.

Additionally, she played a significant role in the Virgin Gorda Easter Festival Committee, serving as a member, Co-Chair, and President in 2002 and 2003.

Maduro touched many lives & contributed to VI Culture

The statement added that, “Mrs Maduro’s generosity has touched many lives across the island. She has supported schools such as Bregado Flax Educational Centre, both at the primary and secondary levels, by assisting with graduations, trips, and providing aid to students in need. She has also made meaningful contributions to churches and various community organisations throughout Virgin Gorda.”

Her involvement in the Easter Festival extended beyond leadership; she proudly catered meals for visiting performers over the years, including renowned Caribbean artists such as Jam Band, Claudette Peters, Jamie’s P, Burning Flames, and Nu Vibes and has also supported and sponsored cultural troupes, including mocko jumbies and children's parade groups, and facilitated the participation of an Antiguian troupe in the Easter Monday Parade.

Mrs Maduro will be honoured during a ceremony on Saturday, April 4, 2026, at the cultural food fair.
