Selroy Hanley charged for Murder after stabbing victim dies

PURCELL ESTATE, Tortola, VI- Selroy Hanley, who resided at Purcell Estate at the time he was accused and charged for Wounding with Intent and being Armed with an Offensive Weapon, is now being charged for murder, after the man he allegedly stabbed succumbed to his injuries.

Hanley, 34, is accused of stabbing Trevon Elliot, 22, while on the basketball court in Purcell Estate on August 30, 2022.

After months spent in hospital as doctors battled to preserve his life, Elliot passed in March of this year. That development has led the Office of the Public Prosecution to up Hanley’s charge to that of Murder.

The accused, who has been on remand since last year, appeared in the Magistrate’s Court on May 31, 2023, when the charge of Murder was read to him.

Hanley was not required to enter a plea as the charge was laid indictable.

It was revealed in court that Hanley allegedly used an “ice pick” to stab Elliot.

      If a person dies within I think, a year and a day from.an injury caused by another, the person who caused the injury could be charged for murder. It is the law however there is a lot of legal issues that could come up during the trial such as the medical care the injured person received during this period.

    A ice pick is more dangerous than a knife. Keep that uncivilized animal lock up in a cage and toss water and dry bread through the bars of the cage at feeding time. If he have to leave the cage put a leash harness and muzzle on the animal. Did anyone realize how the victim suffered laying in the hospital for all those months before he passed away?

      @Wow man, I agree with your comment. Ice picks does way more damage than a knife. The uncivilized jungle animal destroyed all the young man internal organs with the ice pick. Put that uncivilized animal in a cage and drop him off somewhere in the Amazon Jungle with the rest of his relatives. I would very much prefer my TAXPAYING dollars to go towards a stray dog or cat in the streets than feed a uncivilized, untamed jungle spook.

    Please post a picture of the wild uncivilized ICE PICK KILLER. He deserve a good prison beat down, show no mercy even if he begs for it. He did not show the victim no mercy when he was sticking the ice pick in the victim. THAT IS HIS PRISON NAME THE ICE PICK KILLER.         @ lamo. This is not sensible at all. Why should the entire family be blamed for one bad seed? There are members in every family that the family has nothing to do with. I would hate to be blamed for something I had nothing to do with just because we are related.       You obviously do not know law. If I am in the hospital in the first place because you stab me and I then die because of complications. Is it the fault of the treatment of the problem or the person who put me there in first place?

    Yes the father was wrong for putting his hand on the young man. However the bystander went to far when he slapped the dude. Just showed another classic example of bully. Idk if the man thought of his size he could not take him but I wasn't letting him slap me like that especially twice.
