ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - The reigning Sunshine State Conference Player of the Year, Danielle Selkridge, continued to receive league hardware as she was tabbed its Volleyball Player of the Week presented by VALIC on Monday November 12, 2012.

A senior middle hitter, Selkridge from the Virgin Islands, tallied 12 kills with no errors in both of the No. 7 Spartans' SSC sweeps, which gave UT at least a share of the conference title. She also contributed four digs and three blocks versus Nova Southeastern and one dig and five blocks against Lynn. Selkridge concluded the week by averaging 4.0 kills, 1.3 blocks, and 0.8 digs per frame. She boasted a .686 attack percentage.

Selkridge celebrated Senior Day by leading the Spartans to the win over Lynn.

Prior to the afternoon match, seniors Danielle Selkridge, Jessica Yingling and Sloane Baby were honored for their senior status. All three key members of the team performed well, with Selkridge leading the Spartans. The middle hitter recorded 12 kills and improved her already best in the nation attack percentage of .478.

With all three seniors getting the start, Tampa jumped out and won the opening set 25-13. Selkridge and Holly Reschke paced the Spartan offense, each contributing three kills.  The second frame once again saw Selkridge and Reschke fuel the Spartans. The tandem connected for six and four kills respectively as Tampa held off a comeback attempt by the Fighting Knights to secure a 25-19 win.

The Spartans won the third set 25-11.

The No. 7 University of Tampa volleyball team also defeated Nova Southeastern University in a three-set Friday night sweep.

Reigning Sunshine State Conference Player of the Week Danielle Selkridge, continues to be the leader for the Spartans. The senior recorded 12 kills on 15 attacks, worthy of a .800 attack percentage. Tampa won the first set 25-15 and in the second frame, the Sharks were overmatched by Selkridge, who swung for a perfect 5-5 as the Spartans were able to win the set 25-20. Overall, UT limited Nova to just 13 points as they finished off the Sharks with a 25-13 victory.

The Spartans will return Wednesday, November 14 for a Sunshine State Conference matchup against rival Eckerd College. Eckerd now sits in second place in the SSC, posting a 20-7 (11-2) record.
