‘Seed’ money for prayers & miracles not scriptural- Sandra Phillip-Hodge

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- According to the Bible, Jesus did many miracles and other good works during his time on earth and he never charged a dime for any of it. Many religious people today do quite the opposite. This has often opened up church folks to becoming victims of scammers online.

Encourager of the Christian faith Sandra Phillip-Hodge has warned against the practice of sending money to persons for prayers and miracles and noted too that many scammers have been taking advantage of persons gullibility.

“This phenomenon has become prevalent since so-called prophets began soliciting funds from viewers and followers a good while back and has been successful at it, obtaining money from gullible people who send "seed" money for prayers and miracles, something that is completely unsupported by the Holy Scriptures, as Jesus never charged for His services,” Phillip-Hodge wrote on social media on Friday, July 21, 2023.

Churhfolks often targeted by scammers- Phillip-Hodge

She warned of persons connected to online ministries being targeted by scammers to send them money for all sorts of fictional causes, such as charities that do not exist.

“Unfortunately, the Church has supported this concept to a large extent, and it is only recently we see a push back against it by some church folks, after, other critics have been condemning the practice for years. People in the congregation have become accustomed to giving visiting prophets whatever they ask for because this is condoned by the church leaders.

Phillip-Hodge encouraged persons who believe their identity has been stolen to report it and do everything possible to protect their money.

“Alert your followers online that you are not the one requesting money and they should not send any money to the scammers.

“Deception and fraud have become prevalent in regards to cybercrime, tarnishing the name of reputable Ministries and every effort must be made to fight back.”

Phillip-Hodge also made it “abundantly clear” that she does not solicit money from anyone for any reason online.

“I have no money-collection accounts anywhere. And I do not sow ‘money’ (seeds) for any reason,” Phillip-Hodge stated.

@ Sammie, yes, because Obeah is the biggest scam that has been going on for years, and weak-minded people have always fallen for the crap. My sick cousin who wouldn't listen to anyone in the family about giving his money to the Obeah woman, died very soon after anyway, and she bilked him out of thousands of dollars, knowing full well he was dying. She kept telling him to hurry up with the money so she could get rid of the bad spirits affecting him. He even stole his own mother's money out of the bank which he was a co-signer, over $20,000 to hurry and pay her. We as a family couldn't have the Obeah woman imprisoned because there was no written proof she had anything to do with it. So I am telling you all to use good judgment, and if the scammers are asking for money, don't give it to them. You can go to any legal organization to donate like the Family Network, Red Cross, Local Schools giving food, etc. There are so many hungry families, so you can deliver a few bags of food to their door (which I still do) without saying who donated it. They think it is from one of the neighborhood organizations. I know of a father and mother drug addicts who always ask for money, saying there was no food in the house for the children. So I told them to get in the car and we will shop for a few things of food, but I was NOT giving them any money. They got angry and refused to go shopping. Drug Addict SCAMMERS!

Hodge lady go sit down. You talking pure filth. I am in total agreement with being watchful and mindful of scammers. There are plenty out there. But your last sentence came back to hit you full in the face.

You do not sow seeds money of any kind. You obviously do not know the principals of sowing and giving.. please tell me what else do you have to sow if not money. When you give an unfortunate person a dollar for a cup of coffee you have just sowed a dollar into that person life. You give you seed money an assignment.

Are you going to sow yam or sugar no you give your seed an assignment. Teach your people the word and allow them to manage their finances. There is nothing wrong with sowing a seed into other ministries but you have to ensure that the ground in which you sow is good ground so it can reap a harvest. Teach your people to sow into your ministry and others as well.

You are trying to change the narrative. Mrs. Hodge was quite clear in what she wrote. Don’t try to make her statements about what it’s not about. Everybody sow seeds of some kind. That’s not what she’s talking about. By the way, you can’t always tell which ground is good ground. Scammers know how to cover their tracks well.

You obviously does not know this lady. She is one of the most generous givers who help others. Just because she prefers not to join the "seed" bandwagon doesn't mean that she doesn't share her blessings with others. But as the old folks say: "Who know will sympathize, and who don't know will criticize." STOP THE SCAMMING!

This practice is more like spiritual wickedness. People are too gullible nowadays. If they only know how much power they were given by almighty God they would not be running to anyone for prayers.

Tithes is a scam too. It was never about money. Those who know, know Tithes was collected so the church can disperse to widows, the homeless etc and it wasn't necessarily money. This 10% of your paycheck is a modern-day PONZI SCHEME.

Because man rewrite the Bible (namely King James). They took out, add put punctuations where they should not go. The Bible should not conflict itself and yet still does.

Scammers come in different form, not just obeah but in titled names like ($( who use that platform for social mobility, getting government contracts he is not qualify to perform and not perform in anyway but scam near a million dollar from the people postulating as a man of the cloth. The entire religious thing is an financial industry where mankind pray upon the insecurities of the people to relief them of their wealth, that industry was there during slavery keeping us well behave on the plantation and for planters to go give thanks and donations for the high yield of wealth they accumulated out of the labor of the beautiful black people.
