HUNTUM’S GHUT, Tortola, VI- Remedial drainage and road works are scheduled to begin on a section of the Huntum’s Ghut road tomorrow, Friday, August 29, 2025.

Minister for Communications and Works, Hon Kye M. Rymer (R5), said the road will be partially closed from Great Mountain to facilitate these road works, in a video posted to his ministry’s Facebook page on Wednesday, August 27, 2025.

“The main purpose of this is we’ve seen over time this road becomes a river where the water keeps running down the road and damaging the road, so we intend to do some remedial work at this junction.”

The Minister said a drain will be placed to take water directly from the road into the ghut.

“The intent is to take the water off the road and prevent the water from going further down the street.”

Another project to improve drainage

Hon Rymer stated that this project on the Huntum’s Ghut road is yet another one in efforts to add drainage and get remedial road works done.

These works are all to ensure that excessive water is kept off the roads and are fed directly into the ghuts.

When school is about to commence it's school year is when the Government of the day wants to get these works done. It amazes me the forward thinking we have.

All the roads in this district are in very poor condition thanks to Fraser's incompetence. Basically no proper repairs or maintenance since he was elected 2 decades ago. Please Minister Kye fix all the roads in 3D ASAP.

Mr. Minister please fix going up Fort Hill to Belle Vue , especially by the storage tank. Then from Belle going East End is very bad. The water and sewage fix a broken pipe and it only get repair when Dean Greenary would highlight it in video. Dean is with you now showing what’s happening which is good but repairs to these areas are left behind. That one on the ridge road will soon have a vehicle accident because those coming down are driving around because the hole is getting deeper and deeper everyday.
