American Football, although not played in the Virgin Islands, is followed by many in the territory. Many of the fans turned up at various sports bars across the territory to view the game and, of course, the halftime show featuring Bad Bunny.
Among the usual spots drawing American football fans were Foxy’s on Jost van Dyke, Aromas Cigar & Martini Bar on Cyril B. Romney Tortola Pier Park and Captain Mulligan’s in Nanny Cay.
It turned out not to be a game that had the crowd thrilled throughout, as the Seattle Seahawks outplayed the New England Patriots in what turned out to be a lopsided affair.
Nevertheless, football fans seized the opportunity to enjoy a good night of socialising and capitalising on the promotions offered by the various sports bars.
VI fans were also thrilled to see the Virgin Islands flag displayed during the final minutes of Bad Bunny’s performance at Levi’s Stadium. Bad Bunny named all the South American and Caribbean countries as the performers around him carried flags of these nations. The performance ended with Bad Bunny saying, “God Bless America” amidst the flags. A message reading: “Only thing more powerful than hate is love” was displayed.
