ST THOMAS BAY, Virgin Gorda, VI- Nine boats went out to sea before sunrise on March 30, 2024, to see who would bag the biggest catch and the top prize in the Wahoomania Fishing Contest organised by the Virgin Gorda Fishermen Cooperative.

Coming back to harbour with the heaviest catch was Sea Senora, who claimed the grand prize of $3,000.00 with a 22.5lb Wahoo.

‘Honourable’ Venator

Venator received $1000.00 each for the Heaviest Other Catch and Heaviest Overall Catch; however, the prize monies were donated to the Virgin Gorda Fishermen Cooperative’s children’s programme.

The Heaviest Mahi Mahi was caught by Special K, who received $1000.00.

Meanwhile, special cash prizes were given to youth fishers by former legislator Neville A. Smith aka ‘Sheep’.

Among those at the weigh-in and prize-giving ceremony at Virgin Gorda Yacht Harbour were Premier and Minister of Finance Dr the Hon. Natalio D. Wheatley (R7) and Minister for Health and Social Development Hon Vincent O. Wheatley, who is also the Ninth District Representative.
