SEA COWS BAY, Tortola, VI - The Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) School in Sea Cows Bay came in for resounding praises for its initiatives in education and moral reforms in the Virgin Islands (VI) when the dedication ceremony for the school building was held on Sunday January 29, 2012.

Each speaker, which included Premier Dr. D. Orlando Smith, OBE; Minister for Education and Culture Hon. Myron Walwyn and Third District Representative Hon. Julian Fraser, RA, commended the school for its role in the community and pledged their support to its programmes and policies.

The success of the school was attributed to a dedicated school board that is supported by a dedicated principal and staff, and the scope of vision for the future of Christian education.

Dr. Magdalene Tobias, Education Director of the North Caribbean Conference of SDAs and President of the NCC, Pastor Silton Browne also commended the school for its dedication and success in the past external examinations.

The Conference Treasurer, Sanida McKenzie, presented a cheque of twenty five thousand dollars for the purpose of technological advancement.

One of the chief solicitors and visionary of the school, Vincent A. David PHD was duly recognized for his determination in keeping the school’s dream alive. The certificate of accreditation was presented to the school’s Education Director of the NCC and the school’s Principal Wade Tobin.

The dedication of the school building was celebrated under the theme,” Edifying for eternity”.

One of the highlights of the occasion was a historical showcase of the school from the humble cradle of its beginning in Carrot Bay to its present imposing edifice and programmes. The documentary, which presented a thorough present, past and future perspective, was presented by Tobin.

The keynote speaker, Pastor Kern Tobias, President of the Caribbean Union of SDAs, urged the congregation to support the vision of the school. He attributed the success of any institution to having a vision and keeping that vision alive.

The alumni chorale and the High school choir provided the musical renditions for the ceremony. Pator Silton Browne, President of the NCC, performed the official act of dedication and the dedicatory prayer was done by Vincent A. David, PHD.

K’Asia Tobin, Class 2 student of the BVI SDA School unveiled the plaque to culminate the historic event.

The BVI SDA School catapulted to prominence in the Virgin Islands and the Caribbean Union based on its high scholastic achievement in the Primary Five and School Leaving Examination in recent years. A five year accreditation - the maximum for any education institution - was awarded to the BVI SDA School in May, 2011 as testimony to the school’s motto, "We Persevere for Excellence”.

The school currently has an enrolment of 320 students.

The dedication marked a historic occasion for the school, which started in Carrot Bay in 1954 and had a stint in Road Town before making its way to Sea Cows Bay in what seems to be the final stop.

The school building houses both the primary and secondary divisions.
