SCRUB ISLAND, VI– Scrub Island Resort, Spa & Marina has hailed the Virgin Islands’ stable governance and increased air access as some of the reasons the Virgin Islands (VI) is a compelling choice for international property buyers.

VI ‘has never been more reachable’

According to the resort, real estate experts report a renewed surge in interest across the Caribbean, driven by favourable tax structures, year-round appeal, and increased air connectivity.

Scrub Island Resort further stated in a press release on September 15, 2025, that with direct flights from Miami to Tortola via American Airlines and frequent connections through San Juan International Airport and the Charlotte Amalie Ferry Dock in St Thomas, the Virgin Islands has never been more reachable.

‘Stable governance’

“Plus, the BVI’s stable governance, strong investment climate, and lack of income or capital gains tax on property make it a compelling choice for US, Canadian, and international buyers seeking lifestyle and legacy purchases.”

The Virgin Islands’ premier private island resort was, at the time, announcing the launch of a dedicated real estate website that gives potential global buyers unprecedented access to villa and condo ownership opportunities in the VI.

The new site, ScrubIslandRealEstate.com, offers a comprehensive overview of available residences, detailed ownership information, and a step-by-step guide to purchasing property in the VI. Designed for today’s digitally connected buyer, the portal features stunning high-resolution photography, immersive video tours, and insider tips on navigating Caribbean homeownership.

Turnkey residences

“As demand for luxury second homes continues to rise across the Caribbean, we wanted to make it easier than ever for buyers to explore the unique ownership opportunities on Scrub Island,” said Joe Collier, Developer of Scrub Island and President of Mainsail Lodging & Development.

“This new platform allows potential buyers to picture themselves here – from the private plunge pool to the panoramic views – while also giving them the confidence and tools to move forward.”

Scrub Island Resort said it offers a portfolio of turnkey residences, including:

  • Luxury Villas: (2-6 bedrooms, 3,000–6,000+ sq. ft.) featuring expansive terraces, infinity pools, full gourmet kitchens with Sub-Zero and Viking appliances, living/dining spaces, and hand-crafted finishes
  • Turnkey Condominiums: in the resort’s Marina Village, perfect for buyers seeking low-maintenance waterfront living
  • Ownership perks: including full resort access, world-class dining, two private beaches, Ixora Spa, dive and watersport charters, special owner marina rates, and the resort’s iconic sister island, Marina Cay

Buyers may also opt into Scrub Island’s rental management programme, providing revenue potential while maintaining exclusive access to their home-away-from-home.

“Whether looking for a family retreat, a remote work haven, or a strategic investment in one of the Caribbean’s most stable markets, Scrub Island’s new real estate offers a first-class introduction to private island ownership,” Scrub Island Resort stated in the press release.

weed will put off any interested long term buyer. All these coastal resorts need a long term plan to control this weed and protect its beaches and marinas from the annual Sargassum invasion.

These take on average 12 months to complete.

Whilst the entire Caribbean is seeing investments, the BVI is actively trying to hold back investments.

The BVI is sinking quickly into a big mess of nothingness. NO INVESTMENTS, NO ECONOMIC ACTIVITY, NO NEW BUSINESSES, CORRUPTION, CRIME, INCOMPETENCE....

I guess the locals wont have to worry about the "Down island" ppl "taking over" anymore, not to fret, the rich yts that love to privatize beaches and roadways etc. and hoard everything amongst themselves, who can afford to pay the exorbitant Belongers fee will come and buy up the country instead.....hope this fares well with the masses.
