ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - Scotiabank British Virgin Islands will be hosting its 2014 Home Show on Saturday February 22 at its main branch in Road Town Tortola from 9am – 3pm. The team is reaching out to persons thinking of buying or building a home for the first time as well as existing homeowners by bringing together all industry professionals in a one stop shop exclusive environment.

Real estate agents, contractors, architects and other suppliers of housing construction items including security system providers, landscapers, roofers will be in house to give customers one on one advice as well as make group presentations to prospects and existing customers at the event.

The Bank is offering a low rate of 3.99% fixed interest rate for mortgages opened at the event and up to 90% financing for new mortgages opened. Ryan Best, branch manager for Scotiabank Road Town and Virgin Gorda says that the objective of the event is to educate customers and give them all the pertinent information to help them make the best choices that will leave them satisfied homeowners. “We know that buying a home is one of the single largest investments anyone will make in their lifetime and it can be a complicated one. We are giving participants guidance in gathering supporting documentation for their mortgage applications as well as all the information from the best experts on island to help the make a good decision based on their personal situations.

For first time home owners, Scotiabank will be sharing financial advice on how to access a mortgage that’s manageable by telling them how to plan for the purchase by setting up a Scotiabank Home Savings Plan that will help them acquire the house of their dreams easier. For existing homeowners who may have a mortgage elsewhere, we are inviting them to come check up on their mortgages – to see how they could reduce their mortgage payments and ease the burden on their budgets.

Scotiabank has been staging the series of Home Shows and seminars in Tortola and Virgin Gorda for the past three years, each year giving customers advice on how to plan for and save towards acquiring a home. The events have been very successful with scores of prospective customers in attendance.

I wonder if the interest rate is fixed for the life of the mortgage, because Scotia interest rates are normally fixed for 5 years, but they don't tell the customers.

The interest rate is fixed for 5 years, then after that you are at their mercy because the interest rate can balloon into double digit - not worth it.
