ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Sworn critic of the Virgin Islands Party (VIP) government, Rosemary Cindy Rosan-Jones led a handful of persons in a protest march today, November 22, 2021, the first 1949 Great Match and Restoration Day holiday in the Virgin Islands.

The scanty group included unsuccessful political candidate under three different political parties, Shaina M. Smith-Archer and Director of the Youth Empowerment Programme (YEP) Stacy R. Mather, who was in 2019 given an MBE by The Queen.

The few persons marched from Queen Elizabeth II Park to the official House of Assembly (HoA) calling for, among other things, Honourable Julian Willock to pay his legal fees, for the leader of the Opposition Honourable Marlon A. Penn (R8) to move a motion of no-confidence against the Andrew A. Fahie (R1)-led Government, that schools be a priority and for the government to develop a referendum in consultation with the people before considering independence from Britain.

The small gathering was addressed by Smith-Archer and Opposition Member Honourable Melvin M. Turnbull (R2).

Rosan-Jones wants VIP, Speaker fired

Rosan-Jones, who has blamed government for her being made redundant at the BVI Tourist Board and has vowed to get the VIP Government out of power at all cost, has also been calling for Speaker Willock to be fired.

She has also resorted to ridiculing the speaker on social media and previously said she despises the Deputy Premier Dr the Hon Natalio D. Wheatley (R7).

Lol she need to quit. People will speak where it counts at the poll. The real people spoke loudly in 2019 and they will get a chance to correct that mistake if they so choose 2 years from now.

Should have shown some Respect in lieu of the Great March and held the Protest at a later time or another day. Sometimes One must look carefully before they leap. But, I do support your views in having the Speaker pay his own Bill

Is Tortola is filled with a bunch of cowards. Whatever hit you cowards, YOU DESERVE IT. May as well invite every Haitian that opt for Independence and is fleeing their Country to migrate to the BVI. The way things is going, the BVI will be just like Haiti.

All of Cindy’s personal hatred is out of control. She has no respect for herself or anyone. Wow! She pulled this stunt on a day we want to remember and respect our forefathers who fought for us.

The majority of negative comments is from the down Island people. The original Tortola people don’t get down like that. Think about it. They are the ones that is starting the confusion on the blogs.

@@Greg, you have no idea what you are talking about. I WAS marching today because the forefathers ARE MY FAMILY, MY BLOOD! You come on here without knowing anything about anyone who was out there today, except to say "I dislike Cindy" which is a lie and should not have had the protest on this special day. Any other day could have been chosen. Have some respect. Why weren't you marching with us today? Yeah, you don't give a crap about our forefathers you phony!

Truly, I really appreciate the activism of both Shaina Smith and Cindy Jones on topical issues in the Territory. However, the significance of the 1949 March must not be view as a government initiative. It was as a result of the march that we were able to celebrate as progressive people. To hold a march on Monday that is dedicated to the heroes who were brave to demand a restoration of the Legislative Council is giving an impression that the population is divided. Our real enemy in this country is not the political leaders that we have here, but the British Monarchy who is trying to reverse all the economic gains of the country. So it is time for us to unite for a common good of all the people. The leaders may not be there in the future, however, the country remains for us to build for the benefit of future generations.

Whilst C Rosan brings valid issues and concerns for discussion it’s the delivery method that are a turn off. I just can’t support it.
It’s a pity her “friends” have her thinking she should lead this charge, fire her up
and then have her out there hanging .
    We see ayo
