Was thinking the same freaking thing. They knew who they had at the forefront from the beginning. Like, have you heard that girl speak? And they said all the girls are intelligent? How did she rank in her high school class? And she is suppose to represent us abroad? I sat and watched the show in silence, I knew fully well what the outcome was going to be. Full blown popularity contest. I wanted to walk out of that auditorium.
I saw that coming from day one...If you notice it was always her picture you see first and every where...She only won because of fame and stardom...
This show was staged. They knew who they wanted. This is about looks and not about being smart. Come on, the only thing she has going is her looks and her voice.
I hear you point but this show was indeed a cheat. And it was their one opportunity to prove to the public that a professional and fair show could be had.
Judges - included a committee members husband, chaperons were also committee members, etc.
I had high hopes for this show really being one of integrity but you guys failed big time. A complete waist of people time and money to come and see you guys just clear as day give the crown to who you wanted.
Sasha your a pretty girl but I hope your family pushes the committee to give you all the training in the world -- and pray its enough to prepare you for Miss World. I'm not sure how miss photogenic alone gave you enough points to win.
I'm not coming to another Miss World or Miss BVI because these people in these committee is just JOKE and its not fair to the girls who struggled to come up with the funds to compete. They deserve a fair competition!!!
If you knew anything about pageantry you wouldn't of made the statement ' I'm not sure how miss photogenic alone gave you enough points to win.' You don't need to win every segment to win a show, take Miss BVI 2011 Abigail Hyndman for example. Ms. Hyndman only won one segment which was (POISE), while Ms. Guishard that year won, Talent, Photogenic, Popularity, Evening Wear, Cultural Wear if I remembered clearly.
Once a contestant is consistent and wins one of the high scoring segment like evening wear, talent or intellect she can win the show by a few points.
The committee only had two months to prepare the girls for this show I am aware of, and the show was much better than Miss BVI show this year. I would like to encourage those who are very negative to support her on her journey to China, at the end of the day she will be representing the BVI. Why post all these childish, small minded and discouraging comments on here for the whole world to see that we don't even support our own?
Just encourage the young lady to do well, and pray that she will will represent the BVI to the best of her ability.
By the time the bloggers tear apart each contestant, it would either make them stronger or break their self esteem.
There are more important roles we can prepare our young ladies for- I.e. Mentor. Activist, Leadership etc.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Yet some young woman may feel she is not beautiful because she did not win. Bear in mind that not all the contestants are on a mature level. How many of them truly love themselves no matter their flaws?
