EAST END, Tortola, VI- A number of children from the East End/Long Look area were not made to wait until midnight on Christmas Eve for Santa Claus to fill their stockings as the "beardy fellow" from the North Pole came three days before Christmas, and he brought lots of company too including Elmo from Sesame Street, Tigger from the Hundred-Acre Woods, and Mickey and Minnie.

The occasion was the East End Police Station's annual Christmas Party, held in the station compound on Saturday December 22, 2012.

It was a busy day for Santa and his helper as children from all corners of East End and Long Look streamed into the venue anxious to see what Santa had brought for them. There was much work for the adults around to keep the children at bay as they were keen to receive their gift at the earliest opportunity.

Some seemed more curious to get a close up look of the "jolly old fellow" and it was quite good to know that no one was brave enough to take a pull at Santa's beard to see if they were real.

But not everyone was eager to meet Santa as a couple of children seem terrified to sit on his lap. One child cried for some ten minutes while clutching her present after meeting Santa.

While all of this was taking place, Elmo and the gang were frolicking in the yard in the company of laughing children, who were more than overjoyed to meet their favourite television characters.

Standing tall above others were Moko Jumbies, who added to the party atmosphere.

According to Police Information Officer, Diane Drayton, the event was sponsored by the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) with support from Autland Heavy Equipment Company Ltd, Minnie's Plants and Surfsong Villa Resort.

It’s all very entertaining and notable job of the police especially at Christmas but I will much rather the police get back to their business of fighting crime to protect these same children...that will be the greatest gift ever...thank you.
