Sandra Phillip-Hodge declares as an Independent Candidate
Phillip-Hodge made the announcement on her Facebook page today, August 19, 2026, under a post captioned: Declaration of Service.
The 'prayer warrior' stated that if given the opportunity and privilege to serve her fellow Virgin Islanders, as an elected member of Parliament, she would do so based on the principles of her faith and respect for public policy.
'I do not make any wild promises'
Noting that she was not making any wild promises to impress or deceive anyone, Phillip-Hodge listed 5 areas that she would not do, including subscribing to the "Spoils System".
"I believe in equal opportunity for each and every Virgin Islander, according to their capacity and aspiration to follow the normal course of action within constitutional rights and privileges to achieve the success in life that they so desire. Therefore, I support a level playing field for all."
Phillip-Hodge added that she will not be a party to discriminatory practices or support any clique or club that practices biases against other Virgin Islanders. According to her, tribalism and favouritism have proven to be the cause of civic tension and stagnation anywhere it is practised.
Not supporting a system that 'exploits foreign workers'
"I will not support a system that exploits foreign workers. I recognise the need for employment of foreign nationals in practically every area of business, trade and commerce in the Territory. However, we have a Labour Code that should be reviewed, implemented and executed. While the Territory must in the foreseeable future continue to seek foreign workers, efforts must be made through education and training, particularly in the vocations and trades (TVET), to reduce current levels of unemployment," Phillip-Hodge stated.
The political aspirant promised to neither ignore Immigration and Labour concerns nor "sit quietly and ignore the national Youth Policy".
Phillip-Hodge promised to present her platform in further detail "at a future time".
Other persons who have so far publicly expressed their intentions to run for political office as Independent candidates include Lesmore Smith, Rosemary L. Rosan, aka 'Cindy', and Dwight Hill.

Hats off to those who have offered themselves as candidates and opened themselves up to public scrutiny.
I will wait and see what each has to offer before casting judgement.
Unless, of course, you are perfectly happy with the present "representation" and "progress" we now "flourish" under. To each, their own.

Pray for our country, pray for our leaders, pray for our families and youth, pray for yourself. Then obey God's leading.... you can't go wrong.
Another pretentious political minded hypocrite posing as a genuine christian. It is simply as this; like oil and water differ, nor do they mix to become one, how do Mrs, Sandra Phillips-Hodge, expect to join in oneness with greedyminded, crookedminded positions without expecting to get stained as they are.
Allowed me, please, to show us, if you please, the deceitful mindset of Mrs Sandra Phillips. Democracy as being practicing is a "dog eat dog" game, so to speak. Its humanistic ideologies doesn't imbrace God, Christ, nor the love values thought in the holy scriptures. Therefore I see Mrs Sandra Phillips-Hodge as either ignorant, but in my accessment of her decisions made to contest a political seat, as willfully deceitful. Not that she that she has not the rights to contest a political leaders position, but genuine Christians avoid the devil's potions, pretending Christians don't. At the least, she is sure to get two or more votes. No hate from me against her personally. My opinion eared. Snakes and lambs don't paired well.

But she done lose my vote cuz from I see she post about the police not giving a scooter rider a break cuz they were a "good boy" I was confused. One minute we complain about scooter
Riders driving reckless with no license and insurance but when police catch them we complain

Ms. Phillip-Hodge……” she would do so based on the principles of her faith and respect for public policy.” So if Ms. Phillip-Hodge were to win a seat in the HoA as an independent and leverage her victory in becoming part of the sitting government, and if the HoA were to pass a piece of legislation which may not be consistent with her faith but consistent with public policy, would she abstain from voting, resigned , etc, not complying with the principle of “ collective responsibility.”
Moreover, politics is a cesspool of treachery, deceit, betrayal, vices of all kinds, etc. Running for politics in the Virgin Islands (VI) (British) is about the relationship among the leaders, the led and more importantly the people of the VI/the VI. People standing for political office must have a clear understanding what the electorate wants. Consequently, candidates must propose actions on how to meet the people’s needs, resources permitting. They must not only propose actions they must also state how they are going to pay for the actions, along with the opportunity cost. Keeping things real, I borrowed this line from another fellow blogger. Another applicable line I borrowed from another blogger states, as follows : Peter and his sidekick is a b ….h, resulting in high cost, poor service delivery, increase in taxes, fees,etc, missed, setbacks, poor infrastructure, poor institutions, etc.
