ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI– The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) Family and Juvenile Unit is urging persons not to take photos or participate in photos or videos of an intimate nature.

According to the RVIPF in a press release today, May 10, 2021, persons, particularly young people, are increasingly reporting that their intimate photos or videos are being circulated on social media.

Head of the Family and Juvenile Unit Inspector John Antoine, according to the press release, said while the perpetrator of such an act, who is usually a former companion or friend, can be charged for violation of privacy, the offensive images or videos may remain on the internet and in circulation indefinitely.

Photos/video can remain on internet indefinitely

“We will investigate each case which is reported to us, but the harsh reality is that we may never be able to stop the circulation of these images once they are released. Therefore, recovery from this tragic mistake is difficult. My strong advice is to choose never to record or be a participant in a photo or recording that would likely bring embarrassment or shame if it was to be made public,” Antoine said.

Under the Cyber Crime Act 2019, a person charged with violation of privacy by capturing, publishing or transmitting an image of a private area of another person can be fined up to $200,000 or serve a term of seven years upon conviction.

YES, NO ONE SHOULD INVOLVD THEMSELVE IN SUCH IMMORAL CONDUCTS OF FILMING BODY PARTS, BUT IS TGIS PRACTICE NOT THE NORM OF THE DAY WORLDWIDE? SHOULD NOT THE STRIP TEASE CLUBS DISCONTINUE THE PRACTICE OF WOMEN REVEALING THEIR FOR MONEY AS WELL? WOULD YOU TREATENED THEM WITH BIG FINE OR 7 YRS IN PRISON? WOULD YOU ENSURE THAT OFF DUTY RVIPF OFFICERS NOT BE AMONG THE XXXX WATCHES.
UNTIL ADULTS LEAD5 IN THE STOPAGE OF THIS IMMORAL BEHAVIORS, IT WILL CONTINUE.
IF WE ARE REALLY SERIOUS ABOUT BRING AN EN TO THIS IMMORAL BEHAVIOR WE SHOULD ALSO CLAMP DOWN ON FESTIVAL BODY SEX MOTIONS. DOUBLE STANDARDS IS HYPOCRITICAL STANCE.

Anyone contemplating a crime in the BVI should video everything in their life: home, vehicles, hiding places, etc. During the crime one of the criminals should video the entire crime. After the crime then video the stolen cash, drugs, guns, etc. and their hiding spots. Lastly video yourselves enjoying the proceeds of crime in a nightclub or restaurant. Be sure to post all these videos on the internet to become a famous celebrity.

Talking to def ears because a lot of people in the community especially the LIT party side of the community somehow just think it’s cool or acceptable. They don’t care or won’t care until the video or pictures goes viral and some don’t care if that happened.
