MEYERS ESTATE, Tortola, VI- The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) has launched an investigation into an incident in the Meyers area that left a man injured with what appears to be a gunshot wound.

Incident details

In a statement, the Police said they received a report after the injured man presented himself at the Dr. D. Orlando Smith Hospital after 1:00 AM on September 26, 2026, seeking medical attention. Initial information indicates the man was in the vicinity of his residence when he was approached by two males. 

The suspects were described as slim-built and dressed entirely in black. One shot was reportedly fired during the incident, after which the injured man made his way to the hospital.

Police appeal for information

Interim Acting Commissioner Richard Ullger is appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or observed any suspicious activity in the area around the time of the shooting to contact police.

“We take incidents involving firearms seriously. Our detectives are working to establish the circumstances and identify those responsible. I urge anyone with information about this incident or suspicious activity in the Meyers area to come forward. Even the smallest detail could assist the investigation,” Ullger said. 

Anyone with information is asked to contact the RVIPF Intelligence Unit at 368-9512. Information can also be provided anonymously through Crime Stoppers BVI at 800-8477. All information received will be treated with the strictest confidence.

      If someone shot me, that means they were trying to kill me. Whether I know them or not, I would sing like a canary because they would try to kill me again. I'm taking them down to be arrested and imprisoned.

      They need to ban hoodies on the Island. Why is people wearing hoodies in hot weather? These laws need to be imposed and followed. Hot as hell and people out here wearing hot hoodies and sweat pants. Just like those KIA SOUL cars is used for criminal activities, a hoodie is used to pull off crimes and hide the face.

        I agree with your comment. The weather don’t even get cool enough for a hoodie or sweat pants. A hoodie pull down over your head looking like a damn fool. They also need to ban certain people from going into businesses with back packs on.

          I am for banning backpacks in certain stores, that is how they steal. I was in the States recently and I noticed the majority of stores have signs up saying no backpacks allowed in the store especially the school age kids.

    Some of you all act like you believe that the criminals announce their plans to the public. How the hell would we John Q Public know what's going on? And the ppl wore masks, so what do you expect the VICTIM to tell the police other than that 2 mased men attacked him? Next thing, this is a predominantly black residence so of course most of the criminals are usually black so why make it racial when the problem in crime?     Gun violence and targeted attacks like this are deeply concerning for the community. Hopefully, anyone with information will come forward to assist the RVIPF with their investigation so those responsible can be held accountable and public safety maintained.
