Incident details

In a statement, the Police said they received a report after the injured man presented himself at the Dr. D. Orlando Smith Hospital after 1:00 AM on September 26, 2026, seeking medical attention. Initial information indicates the man was in the vicinity of his residence when he was approached by two males. 

The suspects were described as slim-built and dressed entirely in black. One shot was reportedly fired during the incident, after which the injured man made his way to the hospital.

Police appeal for information

Interim Acting Commissioner Richard Ullger is appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or observed any suspicious activity in the area around the time of the shooting to contact police.

“We take incidents involving firearms seriously. Our detectives are working to establish the circumstances and identify those responsible. I urge anyone with information about this incident or suspicious activity in the Meyers area to come forward. Even the smallest detail could assist the investigation,” Ullger said. 

Anyone with information is asked to contact the RVIPF Intelligence Unit at 368-9512. Information can also be provided anonymously through Crime Stoppers BVI at 800-8477. All information received will be treated with the strictest confidence.
