CHARLOTTE AMALIE, St Thomas, USVI- Commissioner of Police and members of the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF), in a show of solidarity with the US Virgin Islands Police Department (VIPD) attended the official Swearing-In Ceremony of the newly appointed Chiefs of Police on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, in St Thomas, US Virgin Islands.

The ceremony, held at the University of the Virgin Islands’ Elridge W. Blake Sports & Fitness Center, was seen as historic as Chiefs Deborah L. Hodge (St Thomas-St John District) and Uston A. Cornelius (St Croix District) formally took their oaths of office.

Chief Hodge is the first woman to be appointed Chief of Police in the St Thomas-St John District. Her appointment represents a proud and powerful moment not only for the VIPD but for women in policing across the region.

Acting CoP Vanterpool led VI delegation

In a show of solidarity and sisterhood, the Acting Commissioner of Police for the Virgin Islands, Jacqueline E. Vanterpool, attended the ceremony in support of her fellow woman in arms.

Both Chiefs bring decades of experience, strong community ties, and a clear vision for the continued advancement of public safety in the Territory.

The RVIPF delegation said it was honoured to stand in support of its neighbours and regional law enforcement partners.

The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force, on a Facebook post on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, extended heartfelt congratulations to Chief Hodge and Chief Cornelius on their appointments and wished them continued success as they lead with integrity, professionalism, and an unwavering commitment to service.
