Runners set to return to the roads!

According to Organisers, the race starts at 6:30 A.M. prompt with registration from 6 A.M. and they are asking all participants to turn up early to register and warm up.
The race itself, the first to be held in Carrot Bay since the Blenheim Trust 5K back in April, starts on the road in front of Carrot Bay Festival Ground.
Runners will head approximately 100m East to turn around at an orange traffic cone placed at the foot of Windy Hill and then continue on the main road to Smugglers Cove passing through Carrot Bay, over hill at Sugar Mill, through Apple Bay, past Bomba Shack and Sebastians Hotel, up and over a steep hill into Long Bay.
At the end of Long Bay as the road bends 90 degrees left and uphill, Runners will take the first right dirt road only 10m from the bend and continue along the unpaved and uneven surface of lower road through Belmont Estate.
The lower road merges back with the ‘upper road’ where runners continue right to the car park at Smugglers Cove. On rounding the bend and entering the car park take the left hand road to continue through Belmont, the road snakes for approx 500m, the turn cone is placed before the foot of a hill (if you start going uphill you have gone too far or the wrong way!). Turn at the cone and traverse back along the same route to the finish line in front of Carrot Bay Festival Ground
The race is measured as shortest course and there will be water stops at the 3K and 5K points by Smugglers and towards the Carrot Bay Festival Grounds as well as Ceres Juices at the Finish Line.
Road crossings are permitted however the roads will remain open and runners participate at their own risk
In the 5k Race in April, James Carr and NiMade Oniasih, using different but equally as effective race strategies, pulled off wins in the Men's and Women's divisions. Carr, who was among the early breakaway pack, caught Steven Asson on the last incline on the return to Carrot Bay from the foot of Long Bay Hill, then made a bold downhill sprint past his rival with 650m to go. He held off Asson’s spirited response to take the tape in 19 minutes and 21 seconds. Asson finished second in 19:27 and Raheem “Ras” Taylor third in 20:07. Winner of the Dive BVI 10K on Virgin Gorda, Ravindra Sukhu was 4th and Zebalon McLean 5th.
Oniaish needed to employ every last ounce of energy in a final sprint burst over the 50m to fend off the challenge from Sarah Hayes to win the women’s segment in 23:07, two seconds ahead of Hayes. Clare-Louise Whiley was third in 23:37.
