EAST END, Tortola, VI - RTW and Grenada confirmed their places in the respective divisional finals of the LIME Superfast T20 League with resounding wins at Greenland Recreation Ground on Sunday April 17, 2016.

The morning game saw RTW remain unbeaten in Division One, as they comfortably disposed of Virgin Gorda United by 6 wickets chasing 147.

Batting first, Virgin Gorda rarely got a foothold in the game, seeing half the side out for just 58 before a small recovery from Michael Castillo, who scored 45, saw them reach a well below par 147.

Joel Williams picked up 3 for 21 from his 4 overs and Curtis Jack 2 for 30.

The relatively simple chase though was not without drama as Kevin Silchand picked off 3 RTW batsmen in the space of four balls before Austin McDowall calmed things down on his way to an unbeaten 72, batting at number six with the effects of a cold and back injury.

Silchand finished with 4 for 35 to be his team’s best bowler.

Man of the Match and Captain of RTW, McDowall thought the win went according to plan, even with the early hiccups. “When they got the first three wickets we were a little worried, but we were always confident we had the batting depth to get home.”

Whilst RTW now await their opponent, it’s not all over for VG as they have a second chance to reach the final and will play the winner of the game on Sunday April 24, 2016 between Under the Tree and Island Stars.

“Whoever we play we will play,” noted McDowall. “I think Under the Tree might have the edge against the Stars, but then again VG would want revenge too, so whoever it is we are ready.”

Grenada defeat Royal Knights

In the Premier Division, Grenada overcame the Royal Knights by 4 wickets with nearly 4 overs to spare, after chasing down 188 to win.

The Royal Knights were indebted to a half century by Ryan Mangal and 40 from Steve Shivprasad to reach a defendable total, but were undone by top order contributions from Gary Pierre (42), Rodney Marryshow (46) and Derol Redhead (38).

The Man of the Match went to Irwin Lewis who picked up 3 for 26 and hit an unbeaten 26 to secure the victory, whilst Marryshow finished with 3 for 40 in the Royal Knights innings.

For the Royal Knights, Murray Ollivierre picked up 3 for 36.

The Royal Knights will now have one more chance to reach the final as they await the winners of Sunday’s clash between Cavaliers and Vincy C.C.

The finals are scheduled for May 8, 2016 and promise to be action packed.
