District Governor Lindsey will be accompanied by his wife, Lesley, a past president of the Inner Wheel Club of East Nassau, and members of his family. During the visit, the District Governor and his family will be hosted by His Excellency Daniel Pruce, Governor of the Virgin Islands, at a special dinner.

The District Governor will also be the special guest at a joint dinner meeting hosted by the Rotary Clubs of the VI, providing an opportunity for Rotarians from across the Territory to engage directly with the District's leadership, share the progress of their clubs and discuss opportunities to deepen Rotary's service and impact.

VI ready to welcome DG Lindsey

Rotary Assistant Governor for the VI, Past President Shan Mohamed, said preparations are well advanced to welcome the District Governor and his family and to use the visit to showcase the strength, reach and continued relevance of Rotary in the Territory.

"We are extremely pleased to welcome District Governor Lindsey and his family to the British Virgin Islands, and our clubs are working together to ensure that his visit reflects the warmth of our Rotary family, while giving him a meaningful opportunity to see first-hand the work being done across our communities. Rotary in the BVI continues to live the ideal of Service Above Self through projects that support our young people, our schools, our environment, health and wellness, community development and persons in need, and this visit gives us an opportunity to reflect on that work while strengthening our commitment to do even more," Mohamed said.

A key part of the visit will see District Governor Cancino touring and learning more about several successful projects undertaken by Rotary Clubs throughout the Territory. VI Rotary Clubs have, over the years, supported projects spanning education, health, environmental protection, youth development, disaster preparedness, community beautification, literacy and assistance to vulnerable members of the community.

Focus on the youth

Special attention will also be placed on Rotary's investment in young people. District Governor Cancino will spend time in discussions with members of the Territory's Rotaract, Interact and EarlyAct programmes, hearing directly from young leaders about their initiatives, experiences and the impactful ways in which they are contributing to the development of the Virgin Islands through service.

"District Governor Lindsey's visit is also about fellowship, learning from each other and ensuring that the work we undertake continues to respond to the needs of the communities we serve. We want him to leave the BVI with our warmth and a clear appreciation of the energy of our Rotarians, the enthusiasm of our young people, and the partnerships we have built across the Territory, as we continue creating lasting impact through Rotary," Mohamed added.

The Virgin Islands is home to four Rotary Clubs, including the Rotary Club of Tortola, Rotary Club of Road Town, Rotary Club Sunrise of Road Town and Rotary Club of Central Tortola, all operating within Rotary District 7020. The VI Rotary Family also boasts vibrant youth arms, including Rotaract, Interact and EarlyAct.

Long-serving Rotarian

District Governor Lindsey is a long-serving Rotarian with more than 35 years of dedicated service and is currently serving as District Governor for Rotary District 7020 for 2026–2027. His extensive Rotary leadership includes service as District Rotary Foundation Chair, Assistant Governor for The Bahamas and Zone 34 End Polio Now Coordinator, among several other leadership roles. He remains actively involved in Rotary's global effort to eradicate polio.

He has also received several significant Rotary honours, including the Rotary Foundation Citation for Meritorious Service, the Regional Polio Free World Hero recognition, the Rotary Foundation Distinguished Service Award and the International Service Award for a Polio-Free World.

District Governor Lindsey's official visit forms part of his wider programme of engagement with clubs across Rotary District 7020 during the 2026–2027 Rotary year.
