WICKHAM’S CAY I, Tortola, VI- January is designated Vocational Service Month, and members of the Rotary Club of Central Tortola have already sprung into action.

On Saturday, January 10, 2026, Community Services Director Vajendra Bharat, aka 'Jimmy', and Past District Governor Vance M. Lewis rallied the Rotary troop to beautify the Peace Garden at Cyril B. Romney Tortola Pier Park.

According to the Rotary Club of Central Tortola, this hands-on initiative marked the beginning of Vocational Service Month, demonstrating how professional skills and teamwork can uplift our community.

Service ‘is a way of life’

“From pulling weeds to planting fresh blooms, Rotarians united to restore this cherished space—reminding us that service isn’t just a value, it’s a way of life,” the club posted on its Facebook page on Sunday, January 11, 2026.

Each year, Rotary International dedicates the month of January to celebrate the importance of vocational service- a core tenet of Rotary’s mission.

It said Vocational Month is a time for Rotarians to reflect on the role of their professions in shaping communities and to recommit to using their skills, knowledge, and ethical practices to make a positive difference in the world.

Meanwhile, the President of the Rotary Club of Central Tortola, Zoe J. Walcott, said its Club Social Meeting will take place on Thursday, January 22, 2026, when it will be finalising arrangements and plans for the final six months of the year.

Why are you guys cleaning an already clean place or a place that already has cleaning and maintenance in its expense? Why not go to an area that has been neglected and is truly in need? All due respect folks, it doesn’t make sense. It would appear that it’s all for a show. Much to do about nothing!

I think you should try and understand the true behind what we do instead of sit there and muster comment beyond your thinking like all the other ghetto thinking.
