Rosan-Jones blasts Governor, UK over unreleased VI CoI Report

-Slams any CoI recommendations that will suspend local constitution or form interim Gov’t

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Controversial and outspoken talk show host, Rosemary R. Rosan-Jones has blasted the United Kingdom (UK) appointed Governor John J. Rankin, CMG, and the UK Government over the unpublished CoI report now in the hands of the Governor.

This comes as pressure continues to mount for the VI public to have preview of the report ahead of local Premier Andrew A. Fahie (R1) traveling to the UK for meetings connected to the CoI report and its recommendations.

“I want to be as clear as possible on my position as it relates to the release of the COI report, and the future of these Virgin Islands.   The people of the Virgin Islands are firm on our position that we must see the contents of said report before anyone heads off to the UK to discuss, or determine our fate/future,” she said. 

Rosan-Jones made the comments in a Facebook statement released today, April 23, 2022, where she also said the suspension of the VI constitution will not be accepted as an option.

Governors have been complicit - Rosan-Jones 

Mrs Rosan-Jones, who will also be running as an At-Large Candidate in the 2023 elections, also called on the Governor to take appropriate steps and accused the past Governors of being complicit in the actions being carried out in this territory over the decades.

“You have turned a blind eye. You are as responsible for where we are at this moment,” she added. 

Meanwhile, the talk show host also rejected any idea of an interim government, even if it is made up of Virgin Islanders, “We don’t care who it is. We will not accept any infringement on our democracy or any attack on the advancements that our forefathers have made,” she said. 

Ever since the final CoI report was handed over to the Governor on April 4, 2022, pressure has been mounting for him to make it public, with calls coming from the public, local social commentators as well as the VI Opposition headed by Hon Marlon A. Penn (R8).

    Ppl like sindy rosam dont even understand governance we have a constutition which is the governing document of the land in order to straighten out matters concerning governance the subject areas in order to make the changes that areas of the law will have to be suspended, the queen have authority to do it.     The report should be published. The Public has a right to know if the colonialists will suspend our constitution. BVIslands will be stupid to sit back and let this happen and not March like Noel Lloyd and the Positive Action Movement.

    Rosan-Jones, A few words to you, who the hell you think you are when you said that suspension of the VI constitution will not be accepted as an option. Rosan-Jones you or the government don't have the power to change anything with the COI. Whatever changes are coming our way can't be worse than this government so find a seat and shut up please.

Fix the roads, fix the sewage and water problems, raise the minimum wage , remove the Belonger nonsense , as long as you Naturalized you should be good in any country. Shame the wealth among people, only one set of people getting Government contracts. This is a shame In 30 years this place remains the same , the roads are even worse than 30 yrs ago.     Now is not the time for her BS. We have no grounds to demand anything. She talk about democracy. Well democracy doesn't stop Werth the level of Premier. It goes further. If you want to follow the rule of democracy then know that UK has certain rights within said democracy. UK has a democratic right to suspend our Constitution, remove ministerial governance from elected officials, take control over our Treasury, call Martial Law etc. Ain't nobody marching with you talking bout this isn't Turks and Caicos. Democracy isn't for only when it suits you. You have to take the good and the bad. Unfortunately our own egos, not unlike what you are displaying now CR, are why we are in the position.
