VALLEY, Virgin Gorda, VI- Work on the roof-repair project at the Nurse Iris O’Neal Clinic is progressing, with the BVI Health Services Authority (BVIHSA) reporting that the old roofing membrane has been completely removed and the sacrificial layer installed.

New roofing membrane to be delivered soon

The project is now awaiting delivery of the new roofing membrane. BVIHSA said, based on discussions with the contractor, materials are expected to arrive on site within the next three weeks.

In the meantime, the contractor will continue work on the galvanised section of the roof to maintain momentum on the project.

BVIHSA said that, barring any unforeseen delays, it anticipates the project will be completed by January 2027.

Roof project will address a long-standing issue

The Authority thanked staff, patients, and the wider community for their patience and understanding as the important work continues. It reiterated its commitment to providing safe and suitable facilities for the delivery of healthcare services.

The roof project forms part of broader efforts to address long-standing issues at the Nurse Iris O’Neal Medical Centre, where leaks previously disrupted services and contributed to the temporary relocation of some healthcare services.

Professional Roofing is carrying out the works under the management of the Ministry of Health and Social Development.

BVIHSA said it will provide further updates as significant milestones are reached.
