ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Broadcast Journalist and 284 Media Nightly News anchor and presenter, Mr Ronn A. Grant, bid farewell to the company and viewers on Friday, August 29, 2025.

“This is my final sign-off with you all and my 284 Media family. Friends, family, viewers, this is my last newscast,” he said into the camera following Friday’s 284 Media Nightly News last Friday.

Sincere thanks for the support

“I want to sincerely thank the people of the Virgin Islands and the wider region for your unwavering support throughout the years,” he continued.

Mr Grant said the journey with 284 Media began back in 2018, while the Territory was still finding its way following the aftermath of hurricanes Irma and Maria.

“Our mission was very simple, and that was to be your source for honest and impartial news. Together, we accomplished that and even so much more.”

Grant reminisced on being involved in bringing viewers seven seasons of the award-winning show and podacast, The Art of a Distinguished Gentleman, comprehensive coverage, debates and the Just for the Record series during the past two general elections, keeping viewers informed on the Commission of Inquiry (CoI) and its implications, to producting 284 Media’s annual Year in Review series and delivering the Territory’s longest running and most consistent nightly news programme.

“Whether the news brought you joy or hard truths, you welcomed me into your homes and your hearts, as history was made serving the people of the Virgin Islands, our diaspora and the region for the past 7 years has been one of the greatest honours of my life,” he said.

An exceptional opportunity to serve

Speaking to Virgin Islands News Online (VINO) today, September 2, 2025, Grant said, “It was an exceptional opportunity in serving the people of the Territory. Bringing their interests to the forefront and representing them and their interests not only locally, but regionally and internationally, was an absolute pleasure and [which] I held in the highest regard.”

While he did not reveal what awaits him next, Grant said the time has come for him to serve in a "different capacity", adding that it will, however, be “with the same commitment to protecting your interests and amplifying your concerns”.

Grant also called on viewers to continue their support for the company.

“I encourage you to continue supporting the 284 Media brand, your trusted source for honest and impartial news. God bless you all, may God continue to bless these beloved Virgin Islands.”
