ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI: Under pressure for their history and legacy of not hiring locals for top jobs, the National Democratic Party (NDP) through its Cabinet has appointed local medical specialist Dr Ronald E. Georges as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the BVI Health Services Authority.

Dr Georges was snubbed some three years ago when he first applied for the job and although he is well qualified for the position, the job was instead given to Trinidad & Tobago national Paula G. Chester-Cumberbatch.

Start date?

Although Dr Georges was appointed by Cabinet a few weeks ago, it is still unclear when the new CEO will take up duties.  According to sources close to the Authority, no formal letter has been sent to him as of publication time. 

The BVI Health Services Authority has been rocked in recent years by a number of lawsuits (most settled in-house), professional staff departure, poor treatment of locals, financial survival issues and questions about the quality of services.

The BVI Health Services Authority is a statutory body under the Ministry of Health and Social Development.

    The stone that the builder refused now becomes the head corner stone. This young BVISLANDER was rejected in 2016. I wonder what can he do now that he couldn’t have done then. Put BVILanders in position, they are capable like any other in getting the job done. Far too long we overlooked our own people will foreigners suck the sweets out of the land.       Paula by far one of the best CEO don’t let nobody fool you she was for the people it is the high powered executive the cause of Ms Cumberbatch untimely resignation ..

      Hope he does something that none before has done. Create some relevancy and importance between police and health care workers. Reward health Care workers accordingly, they serve well. Show them the respect and appreciation... As a Person Join the police force they become a belonged.  Resident How wrong can it be to award Medical professional with ten yrs service " residents status"... We don't even remember the names of those that serve before because they have done nothing courageous thats unpopular but right. Hence they have no true legacy, Godly things are always unpopular in an ungodly world...

    He better off turning this position down. There is no date for him to start. There is nothing he is going to get done. There is no money. The Minister is begging for VG Hospital.. These Politicians are not serious its all a game. He can't spoil his good name with politicians that playing games.. I think saying no. Thank u was the way to go. That shows a man of princple, courage, confidence,. Especially knowing they rejected you.. U have to now question their motive and if they really have confidence in U.

    She had no cause there in the first place ... that hospital has a lady/girl in HR ..DL .. if allyo don't see it ,you'll never gain ... not a local person working there.. then ggo airport, ALL the security personell is lil dutty down island gurls to be searching ppl ... Come on this government is lost without a cause ..Could you leave from here , go to their country and get government jobs? What start wrong will always end wrong
