ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI [12:33 p.m.]– Two armed robbers entered Aladdin Quality Store on Flemming Street this morning Monday December 5, 2011 and, using hammers, smashed the glass cases and carted off with over $100,000 in jewelry.

According to sources reaching Virgin Islands News Online, the two masked men held the staff and a customer at gunpoint around 11 a.m., smashed the glass and placed the jewellery in a black garbage bag.

Eyewitnesses said that one of the men was wearing a black tee-shirt and jeans and the other a red and white jacket and jeans. The men reportedly escaped in a jeep.

If you have more info give it to the police - call the hotline number, make up an email address and send the details of what you know to the police or do something more so that these perpetrators can be slung in jail

I dont condone these types of behavior, but that cash for gold should have never made ts way here to the British Virgin Islands.from the past experiences they had over in st croix with they should have never allowed it to be here.when people go around and break into people homes taking their expensive jewelry these same people for cash for gold knowingly purchase these same stolen jewelry.i do hope they can close this place down permanently.

From the report, this crime was committed in broad daylight at 11 am this morning. These thieves appear to be emboldened by this risky criminal acts, suggesting that they have an antisocial personality. As such, this is extremely problematic for the BVI- residents, businesses and the tourism industry alike. Yet, in the recent elections I have not heard constituents from both party really holding their politicians feet to the fire and demanding answers as to how they will address this growing problem. I heard much about, personal attacks on candidates, debates about which party is better but not much to substantiate the qualifying factor for why either party is better than the other as it relates to the problems that we face. This is a major concern. I would like to hear from our politician as to how they intend to deal with this particular problem. What methods are they going to put in place to address it. I hope that BVI residents demand answers.
