ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Minister for Communications and Works Hon Kye M. Rymer (R5) has said road works throughout the Territory continue this week.

Several road projects have commenced across the Territory over the last few weeks. Hon Rymer gave an update on these road works while speaking with Government Information Officer Giovanni M.S. Herbert on Sunday, November 24, 2024.

Paraquita Bay to Hodge’s Creek Road

The Paraquita Bay to Hodges Creek Road was closed on Friday, November 22, 2024, to facilitate trenching in the area.

Hon Rymer said the road should be opened to vehicular traffic tomorrow, Tuesday, November 26, 2024.

Little Drix Road

The Little Dix Road extending from the East End Community Centre to the East End Police Station was closed from Sunday, November 24, 2024, to accommodate road works.

“We have an issue there where there is constant ponding of water for various reasons, so we want to concrete the area, put in some drainage...so that there will be a smooth transition when you go through that area,” Hon Rymer explained.

Sir Francis Drake Highway

Work began on the Sir Francis Drake Highway today, November 25, 2024, near Prospect Reef. The works include “paving one section of that road”. According to Hon Rymer, the road will be paved one lane at a time to facilitate traffic. The other side he anticipates will be paved by the weekend.

Meanwhile, Hon Rymer said the three sections of road being worked on in Sea Cows Bay should be opened to vehicular traffic today.

Sister Islands road works

Hon Rymer said road works are ongoing on various sister islands, explaining that some asphalt patching was done.

“You know we have been having continuous rains and a lot of potholes sprung up so we are now trying to address those potholes, so hopefully, if the weather holds up, we will continue patching this week on all islands where necessary,” he stated.

Hon Rymer also said road works will commence on Anegada ahead of the Lobster Festival.

@bvibuzz, there won't be a nightmare if the traffic directors are there and people leave their homes earlier so as not to have traffic jams but to have smooth driving. Of course, there will be the IDIOTS who never leave their homes until the last minute and racing and tailgating to get to work. Use common sense people, it's not that hard.

Road works continue and nothing looks finished. Just grear public inconvenience. Mr. Minister do you even go around to check what is happening with all this road remedial work? No you don't because if you did you will see that it is not near perfection. Just a waste.
