Road Town romps to Championship clash with CGB!
The previous game on Wednesday December 15, 2011 had been a “must win” for the Road Town outfit and they duly delivered with a 49 – 22 victory, to force the sudden death playoff game to see who would face the so far unbeaten Cane Garden Bay boys.
Franklyn Penn Junior led the way for Road Town with 13 points, 3 rebounds and 5 steals. Neville Smith Jr. added 12 points, 1 rebound and a steal; Jachoy Walwyn 10 points, 1 rebound, 1 steal and Devante Brewley 6 points and an assist.
For Parsons, Thomas Richardson Jr. scored 11 points, 3 rebounds, 5 steals, 2 assists and Justin Solomon added 3 points, 5 rebounds and 2 steals.
In the Sudden Death Play Off game, Road Town was all over Parsons from the start in the 59-38 rout.
They looked the hungrier team.
Parsons, whose Coach didn’t show up, resorted to shooting on sight compared to the more patient build up play of Road Town and it was a ploy that just didn’t work. Apart from a poor shooting percentage from long range, it also meant there was no one in a position to gather the rebounds and allowed Road Town to start their own attacks.
Penn Jr. reveled in the open court scoring 20 points with 4 rebounds, 1 steal and an assist. Walwyn was just behind him with 19 points along with his 3 rebounds, 4 steals and 2 assists. Donte Vanterpool recorded 8 points, 8 rebounds and 2 steals. Tahj Malone under the watchful eye of Dad and National Coach, Keith “88” Malone, picked up 7 points, 3 rebounds, 1 steal and a block.
Top Scorers for Parsons were Solomon with 14 points and 3 rebounds; Richardson Jr. had 13 points, 1 rebound, 2 steals and Nathan Rodney 5 points with 6 rebounds.
Cane Garden Bay faces Road Town in the Championship Game on the newly renovated Court at Sea Cows Bay at 6 p.m. on Saturday, December 17, 2011.
