ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Ms Rikkiya A. R. Brathwaite, a 22-Year-old indigenous Virgin Islander has been crowned the 2019/2020 Miss World BVI.

Ms Brathwaite, who earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from the University of Miami in 2019, has big dreams of being a multi-media performer with her eyes set on Broadway, Television and Film.

According to her biographical information, while studying in Miami she became a Virgin Islands (VI) National Scholar having received a four-year scholarship from the VI Government as well a Jensen Scholarship awarded by the Department of Theatre Arts at the University of Miami.

Before entering University, Ms Brathwaite was a student of North Broward Prep School in Florida having been transferred from the Cedar International School in the VI.

        Rikkiya is indigenous to the millionth generation on her father’s side. Her paternal grandmother is Elvera Brathwaite (née) Dawson. Her great grandfather was mento Dawson. Her great uncles are Cecil Dawson (now deceased) Carl Dawson. She is from right here all the way back to delivery from the slave ship lol
