‘Ride for Life’ to honour fallen mentor Keon Frederick

He sustained critical injuries in a motor scooter accident at Pasea Estate on February 27, 2024.
The son of athletics coach Ericca Frederick, he reportedly suffered severe trauma to his brain and legs following a collision with a taxi near the Delta Gas Station.
Ride for Life—first conceptualised by Daniel Maduro as a young member of MALE—has grown into an annual campaign aimed at promoting mentorship, road safety, and community awareness.
Organisation President and Coordinator Mr Henderson K. Tittle said this year’s ride will begin at 1:00 p.m. from Save the Seed in Duff’s Bottom and will proceed through Road Town before returning to the starting point for a closing ceremony at 3:00 p.m. Registration for participants will take place between 11:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.
King of the Road
This year’s theme is ‘Ride Responsibly Today, Live to See Tomorrow,’ focusing on the urgent need for safe practices among motorcyclists and cyclists, especially young men.
Throughout the route, according to Mr Tittle, memorial wreaths will be laid at each location where a young man lost his life in a road accident.
Among the new features of the event is the introduction of the “King of the Road” honour—recognition to be awarded to the rider who demonstrates the highest level of responsibility and safety throughout the event. The King of the Road will receive a full driver’s licence, full motorcycle insurance, a bike licence, and a helmet inscribed with “King of the Road – Ride for Life 2025.” Other trophies will be awarded in undisclosed categories.
The event this year is being hosted in partnership with FEMALE (Fostering and Empowering Anointed Leaders Everywhere), the Virgin Islands Alzheimer’s Association (VIAA), New Life Baptist Church, Save the Seed Energy Centre, and SHRM Trustees (BVI) Limited.

Mr. Tittle is doing a whole lot better than our VI men to help our young men to grow up to be positive contributing factors in our community. Instead of sitting in bars drinking or somewhere sitting down smoking all day, blaming everybody else but themselves for their current condition.
How about the prize being to have their driving lessons and license paid for based on them training and passing test?
